In the regular nba world, all those guys would've been centers. They chose to play pf because they didn't want to deal with shaq.

as much as i like him, he'd be terrible for our team. the backup center we need is someone who we can plug in anytime regardless of who the other players are on the court, who we have and who we're against.

shaq needs players that can compliment him, he'd still be good if the other 4 players on the court are feeding into his game, and he's only effective against certain centers of certain teams.

cleveland was his best match. he still has the illusion of being the 2nd best player after lebron, and he has other players playing center when the situation doesnt suit him. too bad lebron got weird.

Do you know this for a fact from some reliable sources or is it just your opinion?

He won't retire, he'll keep fishing for another contract, I'll tell you this though, when he does finally retire he'll make Barkley look fashion model skinny, dude is going to explode like the guy at the end of Akira....

ESPN reporting Shaq said he wants to play again next year.

Second-greatest center of all time...just ahead of Kareem at number 3.

Not really. Maybe the fourth or fifth greatest center of all time. Definitely behind Kareem, Wilt, Russell. Probably behind Hakeem.

It is absolutely amazing that his body has held up this long. A lot of other long-term centers (Kareem, Wilt, et alia) weren't carrying Shaq's immense weight. I'm just surprised his feet and knees lasted this long.

We should look at the dude's DNA.

I don't really know - it's hard to compare across generations and I didn't actually watch Wilt or Russell...

That was just my circuitous way of saying Hakeem is the best center of all time

Shaq was smart enough to DNP 30 games every year. And for those other 50 games, he'd relax as much as he could.

ehh I dont really care much for Shaq.. true he was a great player but his personality actually turned me off.. Sometimes he seemed like a cool guy and jokes and plays around. At other times he's a complete jerk and ass. See Dwight Howard incident.

    Ehhh he needs to retire

No way! He is servicable on offense, on defense he is hurting his team too much (except for some hard fouls he is just 6-fouls tripping machine)

I don't think he would be that bad of an acquisition for a contender (perhaps the rockets).....

For one, he played well in the last two games in Cleveland.....Only to be benched in the fourth quarter by the idiotic Mike Brown. Dude was scoring points and clogging up the middle, grabbing boards.

It is no secret that he will no longer be a game changer. However, I think he could be a good addition in the right situation. If nothing else, he would be a glorified Dikembe for us. All he would be needed for is to give Yao a rest and perhaps block some shots/slam home some rebounds.

The bright side to this is that we would not have to give up any considerable talent (to land Bosh), the down side is that he would not be much insurance if something were to happen to Yao.

For those questioning his ego, they seem to forget that he put it aside to back up Z and try to win a championship.....

All but one, whose size and skill fit PF. He who faced the giant, and struck him down with the fury of dream shakes.

As a back-up, being a 6 foul machine is not necessarily a bad thing. Coming in to block shots and get physical with the likes of Boozer and others would be helpful to a soft front court like ours.......

While Shaq will probably play for one more contract, the dominant Shaq that we all knew is long gone. I appreciated that Shaq, as a Laker he was my favorite target to hate but he is among one of the GOAT.

You said it HUGE ego.. Shaq does respect Yao a great deal though so might be willing to play with him and knowing Yao's injuries history maybe shaq would end up playing a good chunk of games
