Anyone have in suggestions of where to stay or where to avoid staying in Vegas. We are probably looking at something rather flash and money is not a worry as can splash out with it being the first couple of night after the wedding. Places to visit, entertainment, shopping suggestions would also be great.
Man, if money is no object at all go for the Bellagio or the Venetian. These are easily the two nicest hotels/casinos in vegas, but the Bellagio will run you like $300 bucks a night last time I checked. Since its your honeymoon, you'll want to avoid staying at the Excalibur or Circus Circus since these places are more family oriented. If for some reason you want to be off of the Strip you could stay at the Rio, its about the only really nice big casino/hotel place that isn't directly on the strip. I think all of their rooms are suites. Other nice places that have a good theme that I've been to are the Luxor (Egyptian), MGM Grand (not sure if they have an exact theme, but its kind of a night club-ish type feel when you're inside), New York, New York (duh), Treasure Island, and the Mirage (lots of white tigers and exotic animals). You'll definitely want to avoid staying at the Imperial Palace (but make sure to check out their exotic car collection--look in one of the local tourist magazines and you'll prolly find a coupon to get in for free), Tropicana (its not that bad, its just old, i stayed there like 12 years ago and it was getting old. the only good thing is the pool, which is one of the best in vegas), and Westward Ho (probably the cheapest place on the strip). The best site to check out is http://www.cheapovegas.com , the website has just about reviewed every hotel in Vegas. Every review is also really detailed. I don't know much about the gambling considering I'm not old enough to gamble...
I stay at the Venetian, it is the only hotel in Vegas that has a wet bar in your room. Don't forget to get rated on your play, you would be suprised at how little you have to actually risk to get your room and food comped. DD
You can't go wrong with Bellagio or Venetian as the others mentioned. These are five star hotels with badass rooms and casinos. I've stayed at both Paris, NY and Luxor. Luxor is a little further off the strip, but very reasonably priced. Paris is cool because of all the French flavor they've added, including the Eiffel replicate. Mandalay Bay and Bally's are cool too. Avoid Circus Circus, Flamingo, and Imperial Palace like the plague. Also, make sure you hit up some of the good clubs while you're down there.
my family just came back from a 3 day getaway at Vegas. they stayed at the Bellagio and said they'd never go to another hotel in vegas again, it was unbelievable! highly recommended!
I just went to Vegas 2 weeks ago for a bachelor party, and I stayed at the Paris hotel. Very nice. If money is no object, go with the Venetian. My brother claims that the standard room is larger than the suite we had at the Paris. I'd also recommend the Bellagio. Lots of great restaurants there. 2 other places off the Strip worth looking at are the Palms and the Hard Rock. Both are "in" with the young crowd now. Palms has Ghost Bar and Rain, two highly recommended clubs/bars. The Hard Rock has a really kickass pool. All in all, it's hard to go wrong in Vegas...
Palms is going off!!! Rain is worth the wait, even better if you shell out $600 for the VIP balconies.....you can put up to 30 people on them....BUT DONT order booze by the bottle, btw...Grey Goose was $250. Dont let that scare ya, you can get in for $20 and drinks are $6 or something, so you and the new wife dont have to rustle up 28 other people. Long lines, however....until 4am. Mandlay's also a cool place to stay...nice young crowd. Hard Rock's a meat market but a blast...playing craps in the pool is a trip. Limos in Vegas are often not much more expensive than taxis, so check into it...might as well go in style. Cool place for early cocktails is Jacks Velvet Lounge in the Venitian...sorta trancey, with balconies that overlook the Mirage fire fountain, big couches, good martinis... A fantastic restaurant off the strip is The Tillerman. They treat you right there....best calamari I have ever had..
Just came back from Vegas this week. Been there many times and most of the suggestions everyone has given are right on the money. Best casinos to stay at: *Bellagio - Best of the best. Must check out the Flower Garden and their fountain show. *Venetian - Designed to look like an Italian Village. Awesome place. Check out their hand painted ceilings. *Ceasers Palace - A classic and still one of the best. Forum is the best place to visit in Las Vegas. *Mandalay Bay - Probably my favorite. They have an artifical beach that is a must see. Entertainment: Check out all the free shows outside of the casinos. The fountain show at Bellagio. The volcano show at the Mirage. The battleship show at Treasure Island. The Atlantis show by Cheesecake Factory in Ceasers Palace's Forum. Best shows are Mystere at Treasue Island and O at the Bellagio. Dining: (I live for this stuff!) Steakhouse: *Red Square at Mandalay Bay. A gothic Russian place that is a must see. Nice bar and clubby setting make it a very hip place to be. *Prime at Bellagio. When you think of class and power think of this place. Versace chairs and dishes. Their bathroom is a must see! Oh, and the steak is one of the best money can buy. *Neros at Ceasers is really really really really good as well. Seafood: *Picasso at Bellagio. Haven't had a chance to go here yet, but I've heard nothing can beat this. NOTHING! Be sure to take lots and lots of money. French: Eiffel Tower at Paris. The view of the strip is absolutely the best and food is really really good if you like the French stuff (I dont). Chinese: I cant remember the name. Its in the Venetian. Best chinese food you can have, but really crappy service. Indian: India Palace. Not super nice, but the best Indian food I've ever had. Italian: Any place at Venetian (I'm guessing on that one), Spago and Bertolinis at Ceasers Palace is must! Shopping (No one knows about this more then I do ) *Forum in Ceasers Palace. I mean this is the single most beautiful place in Vegas. Places like Versace, Gucci, Dolce and Gabbana, Armani, Gap, etc. Please dont miss this place. You will definitely regret it. The shops at Bellagio are super nice as well. Prada, Gucci, Fendi, etc. The shops at Venetian are overrated IMO. But definitely check out their gondola (sp?) rides and live music in the village. On a sidenote. I was walking around with a bunch of friends in the village (Venetian) and I swear to God that "Heaven on Earth Massage Parlor" from Rush Hour 2 came to life. Better looking professional looking Chinese women could not exist anywhere else. And I do mean professional. Clubs: I'm not much of a clubbin type of guy, but RA at Luxor, and Rum Jungle at Mandalay Bay are suppose to be the best of the best. I'm sure I'm forgetting something. I'll post later if I remember anything else.
I highly recommend the Rio Suites Hotel. http://www.playrio.com The rooms are huge although not actual "suites". I stayed there once a year for close to the past 8 years or so.
I live in LA so I go to Vegas very often with my friends, last time I went was about 1 month ago and my friends and I already have reservations for Aug. 30 through Sept. 1. I always stay at the Mandalay Bay since they give my friends free room(the rooms are pretty large there). I like it because it's got a lot of good night life with clubs and bars(it's like the whole place is pack of clubbing people) and the crowd is close to my age(24). Also there are so many Pretty girls there(seriously it seems like hundreds of them). Like R0ckets03 said it has a really cool beach. It is expensive though and many famous people come there as I have seen Britney Spears and other singers like rapper J.D.(Don Chi Chi) there at the clubs. The Bellagio, Venetian, and Ceasers Palace(it's got a really nice mall there for shopping) are all nice too. Hope you have a great time!
I am lobbying for the Monte Carlo. I am biased since that was where we had our wedding reception, but it is quite nice, really. Very underrrated place in a central location on the strip. Pretty elegant and right next door to the Bellagio where you can see the fountains. -The Bellagio is obviously top notch (pay a little extra to have a room facing the fountains), but the Monte Carlos offers a nice bargain in the classy mode. -If you want a kind of wacky experience (as if Vegas doesn't have enough options in this department!), the Luxor is pretty groovy. You can get a suite with a jacuzzi facing out on the strip which is pretty nice after a day running all over town. -Finally,I hear the new Palms casino and hotel is the bomb-bay, but that is a little on up the road. Vegas rules and make sure you go to the buffet at the Rio and the Liberace museum..you may want to space these two visits, though .
Great work guys. My first trip there as a "dude" will be in October. Right after the Texans Bills game. What about strip clubs and sports betting?
Bellagio...there is no comparison on the entire strip. There are a zillion great restaurants in the hotel (Prime is a must) and the 5 or 6 pools they have are awesome. The Cirque De Soleil show "O" is at the Bellagio and is unreal. The casino is HUGE and you never feel crowded in it. The spa there is second to NONE...you wont believe it unless you see it. If money isnt an object, then you will regret not staying at the Bellagio.
Cheetahs is a good gentlemen's club in Vegas. But the clubs in Houston are better. If you want a better experience of that nature, rent one of the party busses.....full bar, leather couches, pole smack dab in the middle of bus....just cruise the strip. Great for bachelor parties. I like the sports book at Caesars. The odds at the IP are somewhat better from time to time but that place is a dump. If you want to learn to bet, go downtown....cheap tables aplenty. Then get back to the Strip where all the action is.
The only "Gentleman's Club" I went to was Crazy Horse, Too. Great looking girls, but the club as a whole was chaotic. There was no structure, and it was near impossible to find a seat. "I'd like to order your best bottle of champagne." - Simon from Go As for sports betting, I'd suggest Caesar's Palace.
This is the best, and most correct assesment of where to stay in Vegas on the board. It has everything I was going to say...except I will add...if money is no object the MGM Grand (not quite as nice as a hotel as the others overall) has some fantastic patio suites that are huge. That's where all the stars stay for the big boxing events...but other than that go to where Rockets03 says. Oh yeah, there's this little steakhouse in the back of the Paris casino, I forget the name of it, but if you sign up for the Paris slots club (free) you get like a $20 gift certificate to it. The restaurant is located right next to the high roller's slots. The $20 should cover about 1/2 your tab without alcohol...Huge steaks... Added: Oops...didn't mean to post entire quote of Rocket03's post...I know that's annoying...sorry!
I honeymooned at Vegas last October. Incredibly cheap. I paid 125$ per flight and only 69$ a night for my rooms at THE VENETIAN. This hotel was a palace, one of the top 3 in Vegas if not the best. I used Priceline for my air/hotel. To get a good deal go to this website and read up. www.biddingfortravel.com I stayed Tuesday through Friday. (3 nights). Stay at the Venetian if you want to totally impress your bride to be. HUGE ROOMS - nice casinos. I won 500$ the first night I was there from the Players Club, what a trip!
Any other ideas for flights out of Houston. That's the best rate I've seen yet. I've seen mostly $250. What should it be?
