Yeah that's weird, cause Lateralus is the album I listen to the most by far. Aenima will always be great too though. I liked 10000 Days a lot, just not the 'filler' tracks. But most of the regular main songs, I think are just as good as any of their other albums (Vicarious, The Pot, Rosetta Stoned, Jambi, Right in Two).
I wouldn't mind going just to hear Danny Carey. I have Lateralus and Aenima just because of his drumming. Heavy metal in 5/8 FTW.
Depends on what you like...Aenima has a very hard edge and I think MJK was at a very angry point in his life based on the lyrics. Lateralus (my favorite) is more refined and has a better message behind the music...almost like the band was growing up. I do agree that 10K days was not their best work, but the thing I like about Tool is that they show versatility. They don't have a record company making them produce crap just for the sake of producing a record.
Yeah, you just summed up my feelings exactly 100%. Everybody loves Aenima of course, but I like Lateralus even better cause the music sounds more 'refined' and developed.
I had the luck of seeing them in Madison Wisconsin and in Chicago the same year and tour. It was my 3rd and 4th show of theirs. If your a Tool fan.....it is worth the money...... Go to the show and see it for yourself. You will not be disappointed.
I guess if it's on your bket list or something you should go. TC is really dull and just a bad concert venue. If tool went to the Woodlands I'd be on that quick. I spent $200 for my ticket and booze to see The Cure for the first time there a couple years ago and had a bad ass time.
"Aenima" owned my ass so hard in high school. That was seriously one of the greatest albums of the 90s. I didn't enjoy their output over the last decade nearly as much. When my buddy saw Tool at Coachella, Maynard performed behind a screen the entire time, shown only in silhouette. Still had a water bottle glued to his hand, though. They kind of treat their fans like dicks.
I've seen them several times and will be at this show, but quite a few of their Houston shows have suffered for some reason or another. The times I've seen them outside of Houston, the shows have been night and day, I don't know I'm just saying. If you're a fan and haven't seen them, def go.
Pitchfork is cool, but basing what music you listen to on a writers opinion is just silly, come on moes. Aenima was Tools best effort, 10,000 days may be their worst, but all of their albums are good. ... you now my indie cred isn't very high to begin with, why are you taking points from me?
Blasphemy! Pitchfork is your god. Pitchfork is everything. I don't know what I'd do without Pitchfork. My life wouldn't be the same. Now utter ten Hail Mary's or the indie gods will strike you down from whatever lowly perch you are sitting on.
this is amazing! I love tool and have always wanted to see them live... I can't imagine watching them play lateralus, my fav song of all time!
