Hey, anyone interested in going to this? I don't think any of my friends in Houston are into Tool that much.
Disagree. Granted, the one Tool concert I went to was 10 years ago in Philadelphia, so couldn't comment on them lately, but I remember it being a fun time and solid stage performance and show. Granted, I'm not a big concert guy generally - I probably lean towards all concerts being somewhat of a waste of money, might as well buy the CD. But relative to other concerts I've been to, Tool wasn't the best but certainly wasn't bad.
I've heard that before too from other folks, but I've been to see them probably 6 times and have loved every show. I guess it depends on how big of a fan you are of their music. I've been a big fan since the mid-90's so any show is a good one for me.
I wanna go just so I can scream along to "I KNOW THE PIECES FIT! AND I KNOW THE PIECES FIT! AND I KNOW THE PIECES FIT! AND I KNOW THE PIECES FIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTT!!!!!!"
Saw them once and was somewhat amazed at how not loud it was. Good show, even somewhat theatric, but the contrast in a lot of their songs in terms of speed and volume left a few too many moments when I could hear the people around me over the band.
You will not see them on stage. You will hear a version of the song that is identical to the version on the CD and will watch an extended music video and light show. Basically they could do a show without showing up very easily.
I agree, the Wings for Marie songs on their recent album are pretty low-key. I wanted everyone around me to be quiet so I could hear it, but it is a concert after all.
I agree. Like I really wanted to go to Roger Waters but the tickets are too expensive and I don't want to be in upper level.
Not sure where you get that impression....I've seen several different versions of several different songs. Maybe you just saw one of their bad performances. The last time they were at TC, Danny Carey had a "drum off" with a fantastic drummer from the band who opened for them. Very impressive stuff.
Didn't see anything like that. Possibly they just took the night off when I went to see them. It was at the woodlands after Lateralus came out.
Good comments so far guys, thanks. I think I will still go just once, to see how it is... I'm a huge fan of their music (but not a rabid fanboy or anything). Just wanted to see if anyone else was interested in going.
Yeah apparently nobody told them that the time measures on all the songs are in sync with the Fibonacci number sequence. The only cool thing I remember about 10,000 days was that when you played 2 of the tracks together at the same time it sounded bad-ass.
