Well, not gonna lie. My first love was the nets....When Kidd, Rj, Kenyon Martin, Kerry Kittles played....believe Deke played to. But was new to watching NBA...(Im 18) Started watching the Rox when Stevie Franchise was there an Yao was a rookie... Started watching the Rockets and havent stopped....Try to catch every game No, Im not from Htown....im from Alabama an we dont have an NBA team so...Ive drove down to Atlanta a couple times when they have played the rockets. But never had a chance to be around all Rocket Red in the yota center . So was the Rockets your first love?....or did you transfer over like I did...an from who? cool story huh?
You spelled Squad wrong. But anyways, the Rockets were and are my only team to watch and root for. I can't stand us not being in the playoffs!
You spelled squad wrong. Anyways, The Rockets have always been my favorite team and I go to most home games.
I think my first fav team were the 1999 Kings when i think J-Will was a rookie . It was purely fun to watch a pg to bring that excitement.
im proud to say that they were my first love! i grew up in new york and the first year that i got into nba basketball the knicks made it to the finals against the rockets. all of my friends went for the knicks of course, but hakeem was so much fun to watch that i had to root for him. they won and i had bragging right over all of my friends. how could you not fall in love with that! lol
my first love was Erin Grey from Buck Rogers. but yeah, Oilers and Cowboys were my first exposure to sports. then the Rockets and Astros of the 80's. As a child, I didn't even think that MJ or Magic posed any real threats to the Rox cuz we had Dream. Bird and the Celtics were the only real threats as far as i knew.
For all of us who grey up on the beauty that was/is Erin... I was a Stros fan first then Rox shortly after, just missing the finals run in 86.
Yes the Rockets were my first love, though I rooted extremely, extremely hard for a few other teams at certain points in the playoffs (Iverson's 76ers against the Lakers, Adelman's Kings against the Lakers, Reggie Miller against the Lakers, Detroit against the Lakers... wow, there seems to be a pattern here).
I'm from Houston. Live here. But I was never too much into sports until 2 years ago. Started watching the Rockets and now I'm obsessed.
I became a fan during the championship years (I was 7) and Hakeem became my favorite player and I've been a Rockets fan since. I can't think of any other sports I followed before that since I'm pretty sure that's when I started watching sports.
It started with Jordan and the Bulls against the Lakers en route to his first championship. Then my brother taught me about a Houston Rocket name Hakeem Olajuwon.
Being from Houston, and my dad being a huge sports fan, it was embedded in my DNA to be a Rockets fan! When I was younger, all I knew were the Rockets, but now I've grown to expand my NBA player knowledge and I am a big fan of basketball. I think you start crossing over into the "obsessed" area when the offseason becomes one of the most exciting parts of the year.
Didn't start watching basketball seriously until I was 15-16. First player I saw that was playing on a vastly superior level was......he who shall not be named ( LOL) So.....I was initially a fan of his previous team, before this one. When he was traded here...I eventually became a Rockets fan. Yea yea.....cool story.
Gotta admit that it was Michael Jordan that got me into basketball. The commercials and the highlights led me to watch the 1992 finals against Drexler's Blazers (I was rooting for the Bulls, for shame!) That summer, watching the Dream Team introduced me to the rest of the NBA, and I was hooked. Became a big Barkley fan too. Then, what do you know, Houston had a pretty doggone good team right on my doorstep. I suffered through the agony of the 93 series against the Sonics, and then... Pure ecstasy!!!
I used to live in Corpus Christi and my fav team was Boston in the 80's. I thought it was funny how the whites team could beat the other teams in a sport that was dominated by black athletes. I think it was OK for me to think that way since I had just come from Mexico. Then I moved to Houston and saw Hakeem play. I got to see him when he was mean. If you think Robinson had it bad, he is lucky Dream had already calmed down by then. Hakeem used to get into fights, but it was a different league back then. No blood no foul. Oh and its u before a except after something I forget.
the toronto vince carter, never liked raptors even though i live in canada. for some reason, stopped following him after he went to nets. i think i started watching rockets because of francis
Raptors with VC in 2002 cause i live up in Canada, changed to Houston when they got Stacy. Fan ever since, love their hard work and play all out every possession mentality
