I thought the movie was solid. I can agree on them not developing Whiplash much at all. Scarlett Johansen is gorgeous. My only complaint was wasting my time by sitting through the credits. For those going to see it, its not worth the wait. You're better off reading about it online. Oh and I thought they could have focused more on this flick and not the set up for the Avengers movie.
Watchable but unfocused movie, lagged at various times. Too many story lines going on and none of the fleshed out , more action but the chesse factor was turned up, Black Widow's walk thru Hammer and all that posing comes to mind. Watchable but no where near as fun as the first.
I didn't like it. the limo driver got more screen time than the main villain and Pepper Potts got on my last nerves with her constant nagging. Gwyneth Paltrow looked so incredibly plain in the movie, especially in scenes with both her and Johansson.
The movie had awesome scenes and action, but it did lag throughout the movie. The pacing of it had me dying for something exciting to happen, but overall I still enjoyed it. It just sucks not knowing anything about Iron Man. The entire SHIELD, War Hammer, Hulk, Capt. America, and Thor thing confused the hell out of me! I went in thinking it was a typical super hero movie, Iron Man vs New Villain... So where is all this going exactly? Doing my wikipedia research...I realize that Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, and Capt. America are all in it. Are Thor and Capt. America getting their own movies? Or are they all just meeting up in an Avengers movie? I wonder how many new characters we're going to get. Looking at wiki, we got heroes like Ant-Man! lol
My three word review: I am disappoint. I was pretty irritated that they pretty much trashed all the character development Stark went through in the first one and decided he'd be a 1-dimensional, self-centered douchebag again after his revelatory "I have to help the people of the world" experience in the first. Just a supremely unlikable character this time around. I didn't like Don Cheadle as Rhodes. I'm a fan of Cheadle as an actor, but I think Terrence Howard fit the role much better. Pepper Potts was just a loud-mouthed nag, and the romantic bit between her and Tony at the end was just out of left field and felt forced after the two were at each other's throats through the entire film. Vanko, Mickey Rourke's character, was literally only there because the movie had to have a bad guy of some sort. His motives seemed pretty weak, and I spent most of the film trying to figure out why exactly he had such a burning desire to lightsaber-whip Stark into oblivion. Very disappointing appearance by Rourke. The one positive I could pull from this was the eye candy that was Scarlett Johansson. Tight leather and major ass-kicking + Scarlett = quality viewing. I didn't really have any other problems with the film other than generally not liking any of the characters. It was OK story-wise, the action was solid but in very short supply, but it just can't get anywhere near the excellence of the first. And lastly... Spoiler Was it too much to ask for the final battle pitting Iron Man and War Machine against Whiplash to last a little longer than, oh, 20 seconds? Whiplash slaps them both around for a short while, then WONDER TWIN POWERS ACTIVATE and it's game over. Weak sauce.
The limo driver is also the director of Ironman 2. He recently told MTV that he would like to be at the helm of an Avengers film. During early scenes in Iron Man Favreau appears as Tony Stark's loyal friend, and driver, Happy Hogan. He also wrote a mini-series for Marvel Knights titled Iron Man: Viva Las Vegas, that started in September 2008,[9] and directed the sequel Iron Man 2.
Spoiler To wax geek, he really isn't NY-based. He's a Norse God, so he's Scandinavian-based if nothing else. I'd say he's worldwide until he hooks up with the Avengers, who are NY based. Which hasn't happened in the movie continuity. As for the desert thing, they took that from the newest series of Thor...he was missing for a while and came back and it all started with his hammer Mjolnir being in the middle of nowhere. In the comic there was a line of people trying to pick it up. No one can since only someone pure of heart or brave enough or something along those lines can do so. Only two people I can think of have been able to pick it up besides Thor. That may be a big spoiler for some upcoming movies so I won't post it here.
SHEILD dude. They could have alerted the cops, they can do whatever they want. He didn't know his bots were gonna do that? Doesn't really matter. Y'all are looking way too much into something so trivial.
Spoiler I got ya. I have not been keeping up but . . . back in the day when he was the Dr. I thought him to be in NY. Man . . . I always like Beta Ray Bill more than Thor. I'd be SHOCKED if he shows up in the movie. Rocket River
Wow, I just now realized that Sam Rockwell was Justin hammer. What a terrible role for Sam, he's a great actor and this role was just ****, Hammer's lines were supposed to be kind of cheesy because he's a wannabe Stark, yeah I get that... but overall what a crappy performance mostly because of stupid dialog.
If things had gone differently, Sam Rockwell would have been the Hollywood star zooming across movie screens inside Iron Man's now-famous red-and-yellow armor. Rockwell, who portrays Justin Hammer in "Iron Man 2," was on director Jon Favreau's short list of actors for the role of Tony Stark for the first film, which was a smash success in 2008 and a career windfall for the title actor, Robert Downey Jr. "He was one of the actors I was looking at for Tony Stark," Favreau said. "He represented a dark-horse idea for Tony Stark early on in the process I'm glad they went with Jr.
