Do kids still collect these? I remember when I was young I'd scrounge up a few dollars to buy a pack of basketball cards. Now, never see them being sold.
supposedly sports cards go in big cycles. we were up when we were young, and it's down now. in theory, it should be back up in another year or 10? I'm buying some baseball cards this year for the first time in 10 or so
Ahhhh....I remember good 'ol 1989 when Upper Deck came out. They looked so clean with the white borders and cool graphics. Then there's that iconic Ken Griffey Jr. rookie card. That was a must-have card when I collected as a kid.
Bull, what recession? I'm on ebay and people are buying cards for like 45 bucks. I'm trying to buy be some C Bud autograph cards for cheap but it keeps on going out of my price range. I would post the one I want but I'm afraid someone in here might try to join the bidding war, so I'll just post it after its ended.
I'll post this though. This is the card I wanted the most. But I wasn't going to spend more then 10 bucks on a card even though it goes higher in other listings. It was going for about 99 cents until the last hour. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260596873028&ssPageName=STRK:MEDWX:IT
I have an Aaron Brooks Bowman Chrome Nameplate Jersey Patch Autograph Rookie numbered 1 of 5. Bought it on ebay his rookie year for about 10 bucks.
Remember the hype when this card hit the market? It was a must-have if you were a collector. I still have it. Haha.
And, of course, the holy grail of collecting when I was entering my teenage years... Never did own it however as when I could finally afford to buy it I had already stopped collecting.
I've got a Jerry Rice rookie card sitting in the glovebox of my car. Been there for like 3 years now.
My all-time favorite card. It was the first single card I ever bought. I got it from the big flea market on Telephone Road near the Beltway. Prior to that, all I had ever done was buy packs of Topps cards. I can honestly say that the Bo Jackson card is what really got me started hardcore into the hobby.
For older cards, It all depends on scarcity of the set and popularity. The cards produced by Topps / Upper Deck / Skybox / Fleer that ran from the mid 80s to the mid 90s are nearly worthless. They were just produced in droves, no scarcity at all... few cards from 1987-1995 are worth jack **** in any sport unless you've got a mint copy of the card graded as Gem Mint.
ahh yes the years i was a kid and collected. i think every card i have is made just about from 1986 until about 1993. perfect.
I've got a giant collection of mostly basketball cards that I'd like to sell, but I'm afraid I'll only get pennies on the dollar. The entire collection, based on book value, is probably about $5,000, if not more. One of them is an autographed Kobe rookie I got when we just happened to be staying at the same hotel as the Lakers when we were in San Antonio. I remember riding in the elevator with Eddie Jones, that was pretty cool Pugs
