Dont you think that its about time for our LEADER Steve Francis (Franchise), to make the effort, to introduce himself to Yao Ming (Dynasty)? As they are going to be working in very close quarters and in close co-operation for a long time to come. I think Francis should try to make at least a bond between him and Yao. (not like he and Cat). I am sure that Yao wants to meet Francis very much and as he is the one that will make Yao feel one way or the other, he should make the first move! When Yao comes to town it will be a lode off his mind and he can consentrate on becoming NBA ready.
I was thinking the same thing. It would be nice if Steve would take a trip to Canada or Indiana to meet Yao. After all Steve is the good luck charm that allowed us to win the lottery and drarft Yao. Maybe Steve plans to be there and meet Yao when he signs his cotract.
Francis doesn't think too highly of ming. And I doubt they'd get along seeing how Ming doesn't speak much english.
Plus, I don't think Francis would feel to welcome in Vancouver. If the league was smart, they would have at least inquired about getting Steve on the USA team. That would be some good marketing for the World Championships.
O.K. time to back your statement up with fact! If you are going start making statements like that then you need to provide some facts.
If the league was smart, they would have at least inquired about getting Steve on the USA team. Francis is in rehab from shoulder surgery....
Who was the last all-star to travel out of state to visit with a Rookie? Besides Barkley, who was the last all-star to pick up the phone, and call new Rookies after the draft?
I see your point but this is no ordinnary rookie. He's an International Player and National Champion. and Steve could get in on some of the publicity that surrounds Yao.
Yao isn't the first international rookie, nor is he the first rookie to have won a championship before coming to the NBA. Has anybody noticed that the only time Jalen Rose and Jay Williams have been together, was when Williams was in Chicago? Yao can't come to Houston, and veterans shouldn't have to go out of their way to hunt him down, it's just the way things are. By the way, if anybody is seriously worried about problems with chemistry between Yao and Francis or the other Rockets, it's because of all the hype around him as being the next big thing. Remember, all the Lakers hated Kobe when he was a rookie, and the same could happen with Yao. Yao is more humble than Kobe, so I don't forsee any problems. . .
How many NBA veterans go out of their way to other cities to meet rookie draft picks? I'm betting not many. Relax, Yao hasn't even crossed the Harris county line yet. os
Vancouver is a hostile world for the Franchise, It will be safer if they both introduced to each other elsewhere.
A team does not consist of two people. If anything more than just Francis should meet and great Yao. I know Francis might not be too particular about meeting him but he should and so should a couple of other Rockets.
Francis going out of his way to welcome Ming wouldn't be too much to ask would it? Seeing how he wants to be the man, it's time he acts like one. Ming will be entering the NBA, in a whole new country and a whole new setting. It won't be easy for him to adapt to living in America. Having teammates be extra nice would go a long way in ensuring that Ming only would have to worry about things on the court. How good Ming is for us, is very dependent on how well he can adjust to living here. I would like to see every Rocket make sure to treat Boki and Ming extra better because they are entering unchartered territory.
