drummer has always been pretty conservative, but always struck me as one of the more reasonable conservatives. I put him in the same category as Refman, conservatives who have the ability to think critically and use logic.

Perhaps, but never on this issue. I've NEVER had a problem with gay marriage (or gays, for that matter) even during my Republican straight ticket days of the 90's. This has always been an issue I've disagreed with them on.

As for overall, I think it's safe to say I am now an Independent. The GOP's response to Obama getting elected (i.e. The Tea Party) has totally turned me away from them. Not to mention the boobs on talk radio screaming about socialism, and the GOP actually promoting a twit like Sarah freakin' Palin for President.

I'm still not a huge Obama guy, but this "socialism" nonsense is getting REALLY old.

the more homophobic one is, the more likely that person is indeed gay.

Try the Coffee Party, we could use some more conservative voices.

My wife is a member of that party. She spends a good $25 a week at Fivebucks.

That's what I was going to say. My whole family (life-long Republicans) agrees with me.

we have liberals/Dems mad at Obama and Conservs mad at Tea Party/Repubs.
its a crazy mixed up world we live in

as far as the OP, it reminds me of the lyrics to a terrible song. "Cant Fight this Feeling anymore" You so hate gays that you put everything you have to oppose them. But when that urge hit, you cannot to turn it down.
