I don't think they mean just gain weight.. I think they mean add more muscle around the knee that way his body is more stabilized and is able to take the impact more. Idk
What? A professional basketball player that gets his knees and ankles worked on during his days off? Sorry, but I just can't believe that.
This is not just RealGM banter, the Toronto media has previously reported Bosh's knee problems. Here's one link that I could find: http://www.thestar.com/sports/baske...le-gm-colangelo "Still, at a moment when Colangelo is citing individual agendas for his team's descent into on-court indifference, Bosh's is the most transparent. With free agency in his sights and who knows how many voices in his ear he hasn't been the same player since the all-star break. Not that he hasn't had his good games, but at his worst of late, Wednesday night comes to mind, he has been a picture of disinterest, not to mention dead legs. (The ace in the knee brace, who just turned 26, at times looks closer to 36.) "
I know real gm is not a credible source but I so hope this is true and we don't get him and he signs with the knicks and they continue their losing ways
Even if the story in the OP isn't true, Bosh does appear to have a weak and gangly lower body. A big man without a strong physical base is not typically a desirable thing. KG is wiry but I believe that he has a stronger core and base than Bosh. The same is true with Duncan. I'm not saying that Bosh isn't worth it just that you really need to be careful handing out that kind of money.
This reeks of the original tmac to houston deal. I would rather us go after Gortat with our assets then get tied up with another max player with injury issues. I know morey did not think we was worth the whole mle last summer but when Marcus freaking Camby can pull 10 mil a year at his age. The full mle for Gortat does not look bad at all. We have production at the 4 all ready we just need a solid backup center to lessen Yao's minutes or to start when hey needs nights off or extend time off. I would rather us use our assets to get a legitimate backup 2 guard the caliber of Jamal Crawford or Rudy Fernandez and Gortat. Instead of putting all our eggs in the Chris Bosh Basket And maybe a young up and coming 3rd point so we are not S.O.L when Brooks or Lowry go down with a injury.
I seriously hope nobody believes this post. The same thing was posted on realgm and ended up getting removed because of how dumb it was.
Adding weight is just the opposite of what I have heard they recommend for knee injuries. D'Antoni of the Knicks just told Bill Walker that he needs to lose weight because of his history of knee injuries, the same thing for Eddie Curry. The Rox and all teams have to be aware of their investment in players, particularly a max player like Bosh, physicals for them have to be exacting. The Nets examined Rahim just before they were going to sign him and discovered knee problems and declined to sign him. The Kings ignored his physical and signed him but he subsequently retired because of his knee problems.
I never stated the rumor was truth, just putting it up for discussion based on some concerns with his knee in the past. The thread also got deleted and not locked like a normal rumor/spam thread would be. All subsequent threads about the topic followed suit. /conspiracy theorist For those that are interested in reading more, it looks like the discussion picked up here
It makes sense to me that Bosh's career will be ended by knee issues. Look at the player he is most similar in body shape to--Kevin Garnett. If you ask me, however, whether or not I would give a 26-yr old Kevin Garnett a 6 year 133 million contract and have him win a championship for us in the process, I would do it in a heartbeat. Who cares if Bosh only lasts 4.5 out of the 6 years. Gimme that ring beeotch!
