Chase is very capable of playing the back up SG.. if he works on his defense that is. I think it is also very necessary to keep both Battier and Ariza just for defensive purposes.

And if yall really want a back up SG for cheap...dont forget this guy!

Nice post. Definitely something that should be considered.

*the post itself- Use paragraphs, people are less likely to read a block of text. Also, don't worry about sounding 'noobish', people are going to rip you just for having an opinion.

Agreed, it is somewhat an issue, but as you mentioned...we do have options and quite a few of them at that. Currently, we have to pick our battles a bit and focus on the more glaring option.

Jermaine Taylor - http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/6935734.html (don't worry the Queen didn't write it)

as for JR Smith and pieces like that. Think rookie scale vs. veteran pay.

Hmmm, I actually things Cbud plays better as SG compare to SF. Am I the only one here?

I really hope Rox get a SF thou. Battier looks so old this season. And his still the best man to man defender tells you how much that department is lacking. Ariza is a pretty good scorer "on his day". But with Yao, AB and Martin. How much scoring is needed from the others?

good point to bring up those shooting guards! i completely forgot about morrow, and your right, i think he would thrive in adelmans system and is a proven scorer who does play defense. I was going to mention Rudy Fernandez..but that guy seems really unhappy and i heard he was going back to spain for sure? but if he does stay in the nba...that would be awesome if the rox picked him up.. he could be the second comming of Hedo!

thanx yeah i tried to think of young guys who can come in and make an impact right-a-way, what about a third point guard who you think the rockets should go after as of right now the rockets have brooks and ra free agent lowry i think they might look in to another point just to even the roster you know ?

ya i definitely get you about getting a 3rd point guard. we need a veteran point guard, who knows he wont be getting minutes... but will act as a mentor to lowry and brooks. They are both verrrrry young, and need a mentor to teach them how to thrive in the nba. Kinda like what sam cassel did for celtics the year they won, or how darren collison was for the magic.

You slide AB over to the SG and he can still give you 15-20 pts, if its scoring you are worried about. We would have Bosh and Hill patrolling the paint. That's 2 pretty good long, athletic guys to block ar atleast alter shots around the rim.

You need not be worried about what ifs until the Feb trade deadline passes. I have a feeling our GM will make sure we have the pieces we need to contend. You have to give our current guys a chance to work on their games this summer. They have played and now know what the NBA is like and what they need to do to get playing time.

Only problem with trading Battier/Ariza is that our defense gets a lot worse right away, it was already bad enough at the end of the season. Especially so when Battier was out so since defense is, in my opinion, one of the main reasons why we didn't make the playoffs then getting rid of two of our best defensive guys is probably not an ideal situation to get into.

yes i agree with you man. jannero pargo JW or earl would definately be good 3rd pgs that would help lowry and brooks with there veteran wisdom. as for livingston... the guy had a semi-break out season with the wizards. and i doubt he would come to houston and play behind both lowry and brooks.
he wants to go to a losing team so he could start, hence the wizards...

James Anderson, a SG coming out in the draft. Has a nice shot, plays good defense. He would be a good back-up after getting a little experience.

Between Brooks, Martin, Bosh, and Yao, there will not enough ball to go around. If anything, get me a younger Battier-type who plays basketball, not chucker like JR Smith. Lowry, Scola, Budinger, Taylor, Hayes, and Battier is a DEEP bench supporting Brooks, Martin, Ariza, Bosh, and Yao IMHO. Rockets doesn't need an additional wing player, they need another big who can rebound and block shots (Deke anyone? lol) off the bench.

I would like to pick up a late 1st rounder or early 2nd rounder in order to draft Lance Stephenson, this guy has lottery pick talent, with a 2nd round attitude...but its nothing that couldn't be fixed with the locker room the rockets have...
