This is like saying Calzaghe didn't dominate Jones Jr. after getting knocked down in the first.

King, it is obvious that swol-d doesn't have a clue what he is talking about. Just ignore him. If boxing were chess, you'd be bobby fischer compared to him.

These fights just plain suck compared to the days of old...

    Norton
    Foreman
    Ali
    Frazier
    Liston
    Holmes
    Patterson

Where are the great heavyweights that would go to WAR?

I appreciate that bro. It's just that it's exciting to see boxing get talked about frequently on a non boxing forum. A lot of people here really know the sport. The fact that people here are talking about Gamboa/Juanma in an era were the Heavyweight division is worthless is amazing.

What worries me is when people only appreciate ko's. They end up expecting that everytime and it's just not feasable. Mannny and Floyd are bringing in a lot of casual fans and that does wonders for other kids. Alvarez is a huge GBP prospect. He got buzzed real well but came back against a game Cotto. I've been hearing that the final number of ppv buys will be between 1.8 and 2.4 million. At least half those people saw that kid fight. I'll compare it to Danny. Since GBP put him on two nice cards here fans in Houston recognize and cheer for him. It's awesome to see and he loves it. Boxing is made by the fans more then any other sport.

If Pavlik doesn't take the rematch then Martinez and his camp are very interested in that fight. I would love to see it personally. I'd like to see Floyd vs. PWill too. Martinez is close to the top 10 p4p imo already.

Alvarez is from Guadalajara correct, he was stunned in the 2nd round and recovered nicely to win the fight. Good prospect for golden boy for sure.

Not sure on his home town honestly. I was very impressed by him. I like to see propsects get hit. it tells you whether or not they are ready to go into deep waters. Kid took it and handled his business. He's a fighter. The only negative I saw was he was stiff in his ovement but he's only 19.

No, that was not my intention. My point was this, that in my opinion, there no good young HW boxers because, back in the day there was no other option but boxing, but now, these young guys are choosing to train MMA instead of just boxing. If there was no MMA, there would be a lot more up and coming young talent in the sport of boxing.

    More like football and basketball.

You know, sports where it's less dangerous and more profitable. The elite atheletes missing from boxing are Lebron James, Ron Artest and Ken Norton Junior, not Frank Mir, Randy Couture and [Insert name of black MMA heavy weight so it doesn't sound like a race thing].

Comparing these MMA guys to George Foreman, Ken Norton and Cassius Clay is FUNNY.

The reason why people like manny is cause he knocks people out. Same with tyson. The problem is two very good fighters are just that really good.

What people don't realize about Tyson was a young Tyson was an awesome defensive boxer. He didn't just stand and get hit he moved his head rolled with punches made his opponents miss. Tyson had power with both hands that's why he got a lot of knock outs. He was also very accurate with his punches. Manny has no defense and he waist a lot of punches and his opponents really were catered to his style. They stood in the ring and tried to out power him which is a mistake.
