God, can we quit already?

He was great and all, but I don't understand why we have to be barraged with this especially when he killed himself.

Judging from the ages given in the Personal Info thread, you better explain to half our BBSers who Elvis is. :)

in essence, yes, but it was from heart failure... too many cat-head biscuits and gravy, not to mention pounds of bacon and fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches! probably died of clogged arteries...and all the pills didn't help.

Useless Elvis Fact #743: About 17 million Americans have dressed up as Elvis during some time of their life. That's almost (give or take a few million) the population of Australia!!

Long live Elvis....his music was pretty cool.

If you turn away from Elvis' image and the rhinestone and white jumpsuited neo-religion that has emerged since his death you are left with a lot of great music, even through the '70's. I think he became such a sad figure towards the end that people forget what a revolutionary and amazing figure he was at one time. There was nothing comparable to Elvis before he arrived. I bet he was like a thermonuclear explosion to kids growing up in a time when Perry Como was blazing the charts. John Lennon said as much. His early performances are still mezmerizing and I don't think anyone has ever been cooler than Elvis in his '68 Comeback Special.

I wish all the bottom feeders in the Memphis Mafia and Cybill Sheppard save their tired and exploitive anecdotes and let the man rest in peace. Yeah, he got fat. Yeah, he did drugs. He also changed the world.

Damn...I forgot about Elvis Stojko and his wondrous mullett. In Canada it is pronounced, "moo-LAY"
