I hope he gets it. Hes a great part of the system and deserves a chance to show off his skills as a leader. Hes been real close the past two off season and the Hornets would give him a good chance to make over that team. Plus with him over there, maybe we can get chris paul!
If Turner really is the defensive guru on Adelman's staff as many believe, then him leaving would be a pretty big blow to us. If there's any team that would greatly benefit from defensive coaching, it's next year's Rockets.
It's a shame that a team trading for a head coach, will only give you a 2nd round pick. I want their 1st pick.
My question is: Turner has been interviewing for a couple of years now. Is he wanting to leave b/c of internal issues, is he sick of Adleman & son, Or is it just as simple as he wants a head coach job? It just seems a little fishy to me. I have always made it a point to read articles relating to Rox coaching. Every time I feel like he hates being part of the staff, i dont have facts but i feel it in my bones.
Why would he have to hate the rockets to want to leave? Doesn't EVERY assistant coach want to be head coach one day? As with any career, if there is a good opportunity to advance, then you take it.
Good grief! You don't remember Van Gundy running around like a bald dwarf as an assistant for the Knicks? They all want to be head coaches. Rudy T was an assistant seemingly forever before getting his chance. There is no hidden conflict. It is a compliment to the head coach for his assistant to get a head coaching job with someone. They may hate to lose the guy, but they understand the business. The same thing happened to them at some point in their career. It happened to Adelman.
I agree. Assistants want to move up in general, just like bench players want to be starters. No need to read between the lines. It is what it is.
If Turner becomes the head coach of the Hornets & trades CP3 to us this off season, Turner will become the 1st head coach to never coach an NBA game. I hope he gets a shot at it, because he deserves it; but I'd hate to see him go.
I think this head coach search is an indicator of how the Hornets' new ownership is going to be running this team. They aren't interviewing the high-dollar coaches; they are interviewing guys who can't demand a lot of money. That makes sense with the Hornets likely not being very profitable right now. But, I don't think watching the pocketbook is a way to contend for a title either.
I was going to say this very thing. Would like to see Turner get his shot, but not in division, with him knowing the teams inner workings
