Sonics, Lewis go back to the table

It looks like the impasse between Rashard Lewis and the Sonics is finally dissolving. It's becoming apparent to Lewis that the Sonics aren't willing to entertain serious sign-and-trade discussions (a combination of Dirk Nowitzki, Steve Nash or Michael Finley doesn't even broach reality), and it's also becoming clear that Lewis doesn't want to sign in Dallas, or anywhere else for that matter, for the mid-level exception.

He wants his big contract, the Sonics want him to stay . . can't we all get along?

The Seattle Times is reporting in today's editions that Lewis has agreed to restart contract negotiations with the Sonics this week. According to the Times, this time Lewis will travel to Seattle to meet with the team.

Two weeks ago, the Sonics dispatched a five-man crew that included owner Howard Schultz and president Wally Walker to Houston to meet with Lewis, but talks stalled when the Sonics refused to budge from their seven-year, $60 million contract.

While Lewis has maintained publicly that he would sign with either the Mavs or the Rockets if the Sonics did not increase their offer, it's becoming clearer that Lewis is stalling in hopes that he can work out something with Seattle.

don't you just love how Dallas got themselves played!!! Who really thought that Shard would give up Seattle's proposed 8-10 mil for the MCE? The rockets knew there was just a bunch of smack talk doing on, which is why talks never heated up much. CD told Poston and Lewis, we will not be your Option B......When you are ready to deal for real, come talk. Lewis and his agent went back and thought...mmmmm...maybe this sign and trade idea is hard to pull off and maybe the MCE is just not worth it....ya Seattle, lets talk about that 8-10 mil again........

He hasn't signed with Seattle yet.

Yes, yes, I know....he probably will...we have very little chance of trading for him....let it go, Roxtxia, let it go.

Funny how Seattle finally caved in after he had a handshake with CD. Guess it worked.

Maybe he told Seattle his meeting with CD went really well and he really wanted to come home. Seattle wants one last chance with a face to face to talk him out of it and if not then they would listen to a S&T deal with Houston. This is my guess. ;) We'll see soon enough. :)

I can see the conversation now..

Rashard: So are you boys ready to step up to the plate?

Sonics: Well..actually we have this incentive plan
we'd like you to look at.

Rashard: Zipit..I need a guarantee! If I have to ride your a$$
like Zoro..you gonna show me the money!

    Sonics: What's in a guarantee?..if you want I can take a dump
in a box and mark it guaranteed..I got spare time..but
for now for your sake for your momma's sake you might
wanna take the 6o mil from us.

Rashard: I'm sorry but it's a question of manners..you people
have no manners..the rockets have manners..somebody
get me Carroll Dawson on the line..

    Sonics: No..no..wait

Rashard: DO YOU LOVE THIS BLACK MAN?

Sonics: I LOVE THIS BLACK MAN?

Rashard: WHO IS YOUR M****R F****R?

    Sonics: YOUR MY M****R F****R!

Rashard: I want a fat contract!

Sonics: YOU GOT YOUR FAT CONTRACT!

Rashard: Congratulations.. I'm still a Supersonic!

Other way. The report was, Seattle wanted 2 of Dirk, Nash and Finley. Dallas would be crazy to move just one of them.

You think Seattle caved? I think Lewis caved. The Sonics set up the meeting, but Lewis agreed to go to Seattle, negating the leverage Seattle had given up. I think Seattle might bump the offer up a little bit, but I'm expecting Lewis to sign with Seattle for not much more, if any, over $60 million (plus incentives).

IF Houston wanted him that bad we would have got him. THEY DON'T
Lewis realizes Seattle is his only option for money...
Hell Lewis is not a starter at all, more of a off the bench player.

Rockets know they would be a fool if they bent over backwards to get "Rashard I dissappear in the playoffs Lewis"
