Starting Line and Something Corporate are awesome, so is Finch and Rufio. I also recommend a local band, Saving Your Own. You can download their stuff at http://www.savingyourown.cjb.net . They've got the number one high school drumset player in the country in there. You guys should definitely check them out.

Bowling For Soup! These guys are still virtually unkown here in the states (they are actually from Texas), but their new single "Girl All The Bad Guys Want" is actually a big hit in the UK and debuted at #8 on their singles chart. I think they are touring some small clubs in Texas right now if anyone wants to check them out.

They rock. Bütch Wälker co-wrote that new single and produced their new album which comes out 8/20. I've been listening to "Let's Do it for Johnny!!" a lot lately. They played here in Austin last night...I thought about going but didn't. I like their style a lot.

    My favorite new bands:

    Bütch Wälker
    Andrew W.K.
    Something Corporate
    Riddlin' Kids (Austin)

    so-so:

    The Vines
Injected (Bütch Wälker produced their album as well)

I'm defining new as debut albums that came out this year only, by the way...I like too many bands that emerged within the last few years to list.

Favorite CDs of the year so far:

Bütch Wälker - "Left of Self-Centered"
    Andrew W.K. - "I Get Wet"
    A - "Hi-Fi Serious"
    Ash - "Free All Angels"
Riddlin' Kids - "Hurry up and Wait"
Something Corporate - "Leaving Through the Window"

    so-so:

    The Vines - "Highly Evolved"
    Injected - "Burn it Black"
    Weezer - "Maladroit"
    Supersuckers - "Must've Been Live"
    Fu Manchu - "California Crossing"
    Danzig - "I Luciferi"
    Poison - "Hollyweird"
    Unwritten Law - "Elva"

    waiting for:

Bowling for Soup - "Drunk Enough to Dance"

I've really enjoyed Phil Lesh and Friends' debut CD that came out just a month or two ago -- "There and Back Again". It's not like the concerts, but it's still really good.

Has anyone heard of a rapper called Gonzales, particularly his album "Presidential Suite?" Seems pretty awesome.
