JFive, I'm guessing by your alias that you spin?
Just curious where you came up with your name.

LTJ bukem is some tight stuff as is Diesel Boy, and Dara!

I just wanted to add that from Drum & Bass, Hip Hop/R&B, House and Reggae came one of my favorite genres, UkGarage/2step

As far Electronica, I didn't know it was its own genre either, but its definitely the general term for all these types of music these days. :)

good job explaining everything yall, the musical family tree always messes me up :D

Ah yes, I used to love this stuff back in the late 80s! But you know what? After leaving Houston, I am now convinced that most of these were *really* popular there and hardly anywhere else. Most people have never heard of any of these, with the possible exception of the Cult and Siouxsie, both of whom had marginal hits.

I used to go to Record Rack on Shepherd and buy vinyls of the groups you listed all the time. Last year I visited Houston again and went back to the R.R., and it was funny that they seemed to be still selling the exact same stuff, only at much higher prices. :) Luckily, I came across a guy on EBay who burns custom compilation CDs of all of these. If anyone is interested, email me here. and I'll pass his e-mail along to you.

I'm pretty sure the clubs similar to NRG, X-CESS, 6400, NUMBERS,

Located in N.Y. & L.A. would have been familiar with those bands.

    Those were the days !!!!!!!!

Although he's done some Jungle before, most of LTJ Bukem's catalog is Drum N Bass.

Yep, spinning since age 11 (I'm 20 now). The name J Five means alot of things. My first name starts with a J and has five letters. The number 5 means alot to me in the sense that it's the most recurrent number in my life. I don't wanna bore you guys so I'll just say that alot things in my life have a link to the number 5. :D
