as much as i hate the spurs, i hate the mavs even more.

i can tolerate the spurs, mainly because of their players. having said that, i hope they lose next round.

Only if they happen to win the #1 pick that one lottery year and the future greatest power forward in the history of the game happens to be available.

I hate the Spurs more than any team ever. It has been said many times before--they are boring. It would have been much better to have the Lakers win those championships just to deny San Antonio one. Though I would have preferred that Houston won them.

I am not a spurs lover or anything. But they set the perfect example on how to control Yao's Minutes next season. We need to treat Yao as if he is as old as Tim Duncan. If we do that I think we will be all right in the playoffs when it really matters.

I'm sorry ... I don't "gotta like the spurs" .... and as a matter of fact I HATE THEM!

Why? Well, that's a complicated question ... one reason is because where I live here in A-town, spurs fans are like longhorn fans - you can't get away from them cause they're EVERYWHERE!

    Go Rockets!

A dynasty is equal parts luck and skill, an injury to Robinson leads to one bad year, one bad year leads to Duncan, if David Robinson stays healthy this whole dynasty never happens.

Having said that, I could tolerate the spurs winning it all, i don't know what it is, but other than OKC i really hate all of the other teams left, who else would you rather have win it all.

Lakers ,Celtics and Jazz: Don't get me started

Nuggets: Other than Billups they have the most hateable roster in the league

Phoenix: I can't stand Amare or the most obnoxious announcer crew in basketball

Cavaliers: The media swings on Lebrons nuts enough as is, it will be unbearable win he actually wins something

Magic: Have you ever heard a team whine more

Maybe i just got a lot of hate, but the spurs don't seem like a bad option, (But I don't really like the spurs, lesser of the evils)

There's nothing wrong with showing respect for an opposing organization. Especially when the have the rings to back it up.

Now, if we're talking about the Mavs... well, that'd a whole different story.

Yeah, because players of Duncan's caliber enter the league every other year. The Rockets should go get one of those. It's easy!

Bottom line is the Spurs' success, for all the good moves they've made, comes down to winning the lottery and getting a HOF level player. When Duncan retires, that team is going down fast.

Once Duncan retires, their dynasty is over. They will rebuild and be good again because of their GM and ownership but trading for Jefferson will cripple them for a few years. Duncan is the key, not Pop or Buford IMO.

I'm not sure how you can hate a team like the spurs, they have a bunch of tough, hard working guys and a coach who gets the most out of his players, they arnt a whole lot different from the rockets. They have always been my 2nd favorite team. I always hated bruce bowen, but I always respected the rest of these guys

I'm guessing you haven't listened to a Celtics broadcast if you think Phoenix has the most obnoxious announcers. The last Rockets-Celtics game was literally the only time I have ever muted a basketball game. Tom Heinsohn is unbearable.

I agree that the media Lebron love-fest is annoying, but I look at it from a different perspective. I don't think it can really get much worse, so I want James to win a championship just so that he at least deserves it.

Long time lurker here. I just had to sign up to reply to this post because it is so frickin ridiculous.

Since when is playing the game the right way "boring" ??? Strong post play, good ball movement, teamwork, defense, discipline, are "boring" ???? Good lord.

I'm a Rockets fan for life. And I was loving every minute when Hakeem was taking David Robinson to school. 13 points in 33 seconds was epic win. But get real people. In this day and age, the Spurs are the ideal role model from top to bottom. I would kill for my Rockets to have half the cred that the Spurs have. That team has been consistently good for nearly 20 consecutive years. And hardly any of their players have ended up in prison. How many teams can say that?

Show some respect. Respect the Spurs for what they have accomplished and for representing Texas proper. Respect the game of basketball for knowing how its supposed to be played. Show some respect for yourself as a fan of basketball.

The good old Spurs are always my backup whenever the Rockets are gone fishing every year. I'm glad they brought 4 championships to Texas along with the Rockets pair of trophies. And I love the way that they shut down so many flashy fools-gold teams like the Cavs, Suns, Nuggets, and ESPECIALLY the Mavericks.

I always have to shake my head at kids these days who say that the Spurs are boring because they don't have any screaming idiots dunking with their mouth open and thumping their chest and grabbing their nuts.

As much as I do admire the things the Spurs management has done over the past 10 years, I can't help but step back and take a moment to reflect on the fact that without David Robinson getting injured in 1996, nobody would think the Spurs management was anything special. Certainly what they've done *since* then as an organization in terms of player acquisition and coaching has been positive. But I don't think they're *the best*. Good, but not great.

And yes, this theory goes right back at the Rockets as well for tanking to get Hakeem. Although that wasn't really luck/accident as much as it was a purposefully and deliberately trying to get Dream. If the Rockets management had been better during Hakeem's tenure here, we'd no doubt have more titles.
