Didn't see any other topic about this. Hopefully, I'm right. Here's a link. http://espn.go.com/nba/news/2002/0815/1418630.html Too bad the terms weren't said. Then we could say if he was worth it or not.
Too bad it doesn't comment on the length of the contract. Wonder if it's a one-year deal or multi-year. A lot of guys seem to be banking on big paydays next season. If franchise doesn't re-up soon you can add him to the list. Still can't believe that Kandi is expected to make $12 mill/year. That's like a million per point that he averages...maybe Cat should hire his agent.
To the Kings, it doesn't matter how much Bibby makes since they kept him in the fold for at least another season. Without him, they aren't title contenders and need another point guard. With him, they can challenge the Lakers - even if he doesn't exactly replicate his playoff success.
Most rumors have it at 81 mil, but one Kings fan, who I guess has "inside knowledge", says it's closer to 100 mil.
Unless the Kings seriously caved in, the $81m figure sounds correct - a deal starting at $7m in year one has a total value of $70.5m over the life of the contract. Bibby at $100m is overpayed, and after playing hardball, I don't think the Kings would give him that much money. My money's on Bibby seeing Sacto as the best shot long-term of him winning a title and getting payed and taking the standing offer.
with this and the Clark signing, the Kings must be WAY over the luxury tax threshold now! guess they're going for broke in an effort to beat the Lakers.
