Italy is overrated. Not many people speak English, the women are not as hot as you would expect and they aren't that friendly if you don't speak Italian. Rome and the Vatican was cool and Venice too (super touristy tho), Florence and Pompei were so-so and Milan was boring. Maybe if you go to the coastal towns in Southern Italy it would be cool but I was not blown away by the typical big city destinations.

I agree with everything you said. I too thought Rome and Vatican City were amazing, and I'd include Capri and the small towns along the Amalfi coast on the list. I found most of the people in northern Italy to be snobby and rude (much like the French), but Rome and the southern regions are much more hospitable.

Back on topic... I've always wanted to go to Australia. I'm not sure that that would be the last place I'd want to visit though...

    couldn't care less...

more concerned about being without irreplaceable, distinct, unmatched substantial personal experiences... before I "kick the bucket"... than missing out on familiar--however different in design, expression, and flavor--duplicitable sights and sounds of any particular part of the globe...

I don't think so, but I have only been to Rome and Venice. I do agree that not that many people speak English and the women are not as hot as you would think. People seemed friendly to us, much more so than some other Euro countries at least, but also not the friendliest. Everyone always says venice is touristy, but there are plenty of places there that are not, it's a pretty big size, it's fun just to get lost in the streets of venice. Rome was one of the few large European cities that lived up to my expectations, I enjoyed it there a lot. I might be going to Vieste on the southern adriatic coast this summer. That is where my grandparents immigrated from so we wanted to check it out.

For an overrated country, I will go with France. Easily the rudest and most annoying country i have been to. Absolutely no one is friendly and they speak down to americans. The food also sucks, everyone always says its so great, but it does not even compare to most other countries imo.

You summed it up pretty well. Some people may go to Italy with grander expectations than will be met but its still a cool place, especially if you like your history. Its been about 8-9 years since I went to Italy but I didn't find the non english speaking to be so bad, pretty much everyone in the touristy places like Venice right down to your Maccas workers can speak enough or understand enough of it. In the end its not an English speaking country so can't complain. Milan was the only place I didn't really enjoy, was dirtier and people seemed ruder there. Those who couldn't speak English in Italy at least tried to help.......unlike France where you nailed it too.

The French have to be the rudest people on the face of the Earth I swear. I would not go back there again(although glad I did go once), even the ones that speak English pretend not to. I would try and speak French to them(I wasn't the greatest but I know I was speaking it well enough for them to understand me) and on numerous times I was laughed at for attempting it. The place is dirty as well I found.

I've been lucky enough to visit a lot of places. However not a country but I would love to go to Antarctica, had a friend go down there on a boat from South America and it looked awesome.

what is your fascination with japan?

i`ve been to the U.S., Mexico, Thailand, Japan, Taiwan, and island hopping in the Caribbean.

i want to go to Europe, not just the popular tourist countries a la England, Spain, France, Germany, Holland, but also eastern Europe.

Colombia - Had alot of fun but I was in a big group with several guys, and we went clubbing alot and dancing with hot Colombian women. If I went in a small group or with chicks, the fun factor would have diminished greatly.

I would love to check out North Korea under Kim Jong-Il but they aren't so friendly with American tourists.

It would be interesting to see what type of folks actually live in a place like that plus I imagine the scenery is breathtaking when its not cold and snowy that is which is probably not often.
