As is his M.O., Joe Johnson has flown under the radar a bit for this summer's free agent crop. But he's an All-Star and proven scorer in the league, and several teams could pursue Johnson, including the Knicks (who he's been linked to previously) and Bulls (who sorely need a scorer -- whether it be a shooting guard or power forward). But Johnson, of course, can also re-up with the Hawks, who were no slouches this season in the East as they grabbed the No. 3 seed. And as Alan Hahn of Newsday writes, several around the league think he may just decide to stay a Hawk: "More people in the NBA believe there is a greater chance that Joe Johnson stays in Atlanta than LeBron James stays in Cleveland," he writes. Of course, time will tell on Johnson, but with the talented roster the Hawks have, staying sure makes plenty of sense. ESPN's Marc Stein With higher projected salary cap, Bulls can land Johnson without having to trade "The Bulls will be especially pleased -- since they should now be able to afford a max-level player such as Chris Bosh or Joe Johnson without being forced to trade away a veteran such as Kirk Hinrich or Luol Deng or rookie James Johnson."
I think if you pair a big name with D Rose the Bulls are gonna be scary good. Kinda like the Durant/Westbrook in the West.
I heard Amare is close to re-signing with the suns too. I'm starting to like all of these players staying home, those Knicks picks sound better every day.
Either way, I don't get the Chris vs Chris thread, because there are no rumours for CP3 coming to the Rockets. If the thread is hypothetical, then fair enough. It is the off-season (for the rockets) after all. That-being-said, the thread belongs in the GARM becauase it is Rockets related. No agrument.
Does anyone seriously think a max player is going to just walk away? They'll either stay or force a sign & trade.
