I'm looking to buy a washer/dryer and a refrigerator, new. Where is the best place to get good deals in Houston on these items?

Sometimes you can get good deals by just going around to different Home Depot, Lowe's and Sears type places and find good deals on some of the floor models they are selling. You can easily get a 10% coupon to Home Depot and Lowes to get extra savings.

Also check out Solo Clearance Center http://www.solocenter.com/ you can get some good deals there. Just make sure you know the actual retail prices the stuff you want to buy so you can compare.

Actually Conn's is going to be a good place to look. Or Sears.

Look at Maytag for your washer & dryer, or Whirlpool.. Kenmore if at Sears.

For your refrigerator as well, Kenmore/Whirlpool are safe bets.

There are usually appliances that Lowe's, Home Depot and the like have that are simply dented but they sell them at nice discounts when you go and visit the store.

I really like the GE models we have in the washer and dryer. Have had them nearly 5 years without a single problem. If it is not a big issue, get top loading washer and matching dryer. My uncle's friends has repaired appliances for 30+ years and we have a family friend that sells appliances too and both stated you will not get the same life out of higher efficiency front loading machines as you will top loading. I even had the salesmen at Sears tell me that when we were looking at getting front loading machines.

As far as refrigerators, I like Whirlpool.
