Who is a better player? They are both on tv a lot, but for some reason I think the media hypes up dw. Is it because he plays for dallas?
It's because he plays for the Cowboys and they get the lions' share of the publicity in this state. You seem to forget that outside of Houston, many folks don't know much of anything about the Texans outside of the fact that they have been a losing franchise. At this point in time, I'd say that Ware is the more polished player as Williams still needs to work on his technique. Over time, once he improves this, I'd expect Williams to become the better player.
Everybody will give Demarcus the edge because of sheer volume of numbers. But we will really see where things go this year. The Cowboys have been a top 10 defense for almost all of Demarcus' career with them, that certainly has to help. Meanwhile, the Texans finally clawed their way to the top half of the league last year in D after literally being in the bottom 10 for the entire duration of Mario's career. Demarcus is 27, Mario is 25, they're both entering the prime of their careers... we'll learn a lot about both of them this year, and even more about Mario.
It's amazing how the team went from one of the worst...no, the worst on defense to at least better than average by the end of the year... It's testimony to the kind of players we are seeing being added: Pollard, Cushing, and it seems that trend of getting aggressive go for the throat players is on-going...
We'll see if he can keep up his production if the Cowboys defense goes south. We'll see if Mario has an even higher ceiling if the Texans defense improves. Should be an interesting year.
Cowboys defense isn't going south anytime soon. I can' speak for the Texans. Mario is DE, so it doesn't matter. That's where a defense begins and ends. He dictates what a QB will do. ie bad throw, tipped pass, rush throw.
They certainly didn't lose anything that wasn't replaceable this offseason, but the NFL is a pretty wacky league, so who knows. It's undeniable though that football is a team sport and that having talented teammates, or at the very least ones who don't suck, makes your job a lot easier, and until last season Mario didn't exactly have what anyone would even consider a mediocre supporting cast. But throw in Cushing, Pollard, Barwin and Smith, and all the sudden things are looking a lot brighter and Mario has a few less double teams coming his way and a few more 3rd and long opportunities where he can really rush the QB. It makes a big difference. I expect even better this year.
Its hard to compare the two as they play two different positions. Ware is a OLB for a 3-4 defense and who's primary job is to rush the QB. 'Ario' is a DE in a 4-3. Mario plays the run better, but isn't in Ware's leauge as a pass rusher. Mario is 30lbs heavier and a bit taller. I say both are great players.
In previous seasons, the teams puts double team on Mario so he cant get to the QB, and the other players were bad-average, (Im saying about seasons previous of 2009-2010, last year the defense improved) Demarcus Ware cant be double teamed, because they are other players that can get to the QB, so Ware have the bigger numbers, but Mario is going to be great!
different players in a different system. for us, obviously somebody like Mario is more important, but for a team needing a pass rusher, Ware is more valuable.
Ware doesnt get double teamed? Do you even know this or just talk out of your ass. Ware faces a double team on almost every down. Ware is great against the run and sometimes will be 20 yards downfield covering a TE. Mario williams is great but Dware is a beast.
Mario is great, a top 5 DE in the NFL for sure. Ware is a top 5 defensive player in the NFL. He is more consistent puts up better numbers, on a team that record wise is better. He would not fit the system here, but he is one of the best 3-4 players in the game.
