yeah, ive never thought bynum was anything special and imo he has already peaked. he has some good games but seems to disappear for the big ones. he also seems to have the attitude that he is actually worth his contract. hill can surpass bynum in the next 2 years and hayes's defense is more reliable than bynum's imo. so to have the tandem of hill/hayes>bynum to me. he also has quite the mammoth contract. esp. with the number of bigs in the draft. i dont see how bynum will be coveted at his price. he wouldnt be worth bosh if bosh didnt want to leave toronto.
He seems to have a hard time playing when Gasol is in the lineup. When Gasol is out though he shows his potential. The question for the Lakers is will he ever be consistent for them while Gasol is on the team.
fair enough. he doesnt get the touches to show his true potential but his attitude is enough for me to think twice about his value. i think we had a discussion bout this 3 years ago when someone said bynum isnt far from yao. i still dont see him being anything but a solid contributor if he can be consistent. maybe a 13/10 at best but still not worth the money he is getting. i dunno. im biased against him. okc can do better.
I think they're going to make a run at bosh. If they do, its over for the west. What makes it very possible is the fact durant and their other players are still on rookie deals. I don't think westbrook is a max player, but he's at 9m with his age. They can give bosh max money, sign durant to max money, westbrook to a good contract and if possible or if they need to trade green who is the lamar odom of their team good and bad.
if/when bosh goes to OKC, we are gonna have to hope they get knocked out by another team or that Yao happens to play out of his mind in order to have a shot at even one championship. but Bosh wont be the first option at OKC and i think that may hamper their chances at getting him. nevertheless, they will get a quality big and will be the team to beat in the west.
If he teams up with lebron or wade he wont be a first option either. If he goes to sa, he will be close, but not the first option. The guy has said he wants to win championships. He's stated that a few times. I think he will go where he thinks he can win a title. To me, thats Sa or OK City.
SA would seem more likely to me then. b/c TD will be on his way out and it will be like a passing on of the torch. he has stated that he wants to win championships but i don't think he would want to play second fiddle to anyone. albeit durant seems more likely to share the ball than say kobe. houston would be a good fit. hehehe.
This. But that is because everyone and their grandmother on that team is still on their rookie contracts. When Durant and Westbrook resign, there is going to be a LOT of $$$ coming their way. And to all the people that say Ibaka should start over Green? I completely agree. Ibaka is becoming one of my favorite players.
You know, if the thunder get a nice young big man, and our young guys continue to progress. We could have a nice rivalry in the future with OKC, especailly since Oklahoma's right outside of Texas
Nah. The Thunder need a center so they can dump Krstic. I doubt they break the bank for a high-dollar FA this summer.
We would be in the playoffs against the lakers and the thunder would be anxiously awaiting Yao's return with their fingers crossed that he is at least 70% when he returns.
Bynum doesn't make sense for the Thunder - he makes a ton of money and shows indifferent effort. And with the emergence of Ibaka the need for a big banging center becomes less and less important, because he can hold his own against most of the big men in the league on the defensive side of the court. The lineup for the Thunder is probably going to eventually be Westbrook-Harden-Durant-Ibaka-A.N.Other - and that last guy doesn't need to be as good as a Chris Bosh. He needs to be modestly paid, willing to bang underneath, and hit a jumper or two - so about half of the journeymen big men in the league then.
Totally disagree, even with the erratic play and injuries, Bynum is far more complete and effective center than Lopez is right now. Bynum could easily get Lopez's numbers on Nets, if not better, I doubt Lopez could do what Bynum does for the Lakers, being a weaker defender and not nearly as imposing size wise as Bynum. The Lakers front line would be even more vulnerable with Lopez. I think people on this board overrated Lopez for his numbers, which he got on one of the worst teams ever.
I love Brook Lopez but Bynum is a true center in the sense that his post up moves are a lit better than Lopez's. Brook tends to float a bt out of the paint but Bynum can clog up that paint and dominate. Bynum's a good player and he is very good in the post. Tack on the fact that he's pretty good at the free throw line, you have a good center.
You guys are throwing Jeff Green under the bus. The Thunder need a starting C for next year Krstic isn't good enough. Someone who scores in the low post and can defend big Cs. When they play big teams like the Lakers, the new C, Ibaka and Collison can rotate. Ibaka will only be 21 next year and will not be experienced enough to start. Dreaming about Brook Lopez in 2 years is silly. Bynum ain't gonna happen either because Presti isn't going to spend high dollars on a player not already on their team. Green is a better player than he is appearing right now. This is his very first playoff series and you can't judge his NBA future on it. photoblue11, I'm with you on Lopez. He is overrated on this forum but is still a good player. He's the only untouchable player on the Nets roster this summer.
A3, Ibabka can hold the pivot down. Getting points low doesnt have to be the center spot. I like green also, but he has too much derrrick mckey-lamar odom in him to me. They can get bosh and thats the post player/versitlie scorer they need. Ibaka-collison-kristic can hold the 5 down. Harden and thabo can hold the 2 down with harden getting more minutes soon. To me, bosh or boozer would be perfect. Green can come off the bench like odom or traded for bosh. He is ideal off the bench because of his versitility. The window is open for them, but we've seen these windows close fast if you dont get your head through it.
