Saw a little stat thing on ESPN News where they showed some key centers in the west, which are supposed to stop Shaq. They had D-Rob,Kandi,Lafrentz, I think Keon Clark, and Yao Ming. (it had Clark because of the recent signing, I think. It may have been someone else though, I'm not for sure.) I looked at the height and weight, and Yao won both. No suprise for most Rocket fans. Hopefully some others took note of it. The closest to him in weight was Kandi, I believe, at 269. Then they listed Shaq's stats at the bottom, 7-1 and 315lbs. Is Shaq only 315? Probably not. It was funny because the sports guy said no one was close to Shaq. I think 19 lbs is pretty close. Maybe its just me though.

Just wanted to say that hopefully the guys who say Yao is a stick noticed that. Also, if anyone knows for sure if 315 is Shaq's real weight, I'd be happy. Though I know the NBA has been known to slightly change the numbers. :)

edit: Hmm... espn's website has him at 335. That's weird. Maybe I saw it wrong, but I doubt it.

edit#2: Well, checked NBA.com's stats, and Shaq is listed at 315. Weird that ESPN uses NBA.com's stats instead of their own.

No way in hell Shaq is 315lbs. What is Yao listed at? I know he's around 300 but is he right there, a little over or under? His legs are huge which is a good start as far as "stoping" Shaq (holding him around 20ppg) but he'll have to bulk up up top and get used to NBA banging before we can seriously talk about Ming being a stopper on D and the Rocks winning the West. That'll be a couple of years IMO.

296lbs. Forgot to mention that. Kind of became common knowledge to me. I forget not everyone memorizes a persons height and weight. :D

I don't know. I tried creating Yao Ming, but it stopped around 260, I think. I was thinking, "Man, Shaq's way over 300, so it should be around there where it stops." Got me mad too. Yao kept doing layups and getting rejected by the rim. I also had to make him white. I think EA is racist.

I love our squad and all but nobody will stop Shaq until he runs out of gas in a few years. Especially not Keon Clark. I think that Yao's conditioning is far better than what you guys suspect, before saying that he needs to bulk up and what not let's see what he can do huh? I truly believe that Houston Rockets fans will all be pleasantly surprised. Just don't worry about stopping Shaq. And if that match goes horribly awry we always have Franchise to abuse Guyton and Fisher, as well as EG. Do you remember that game that he had against the fakers this year? That was an amazing game. We have much more that just Ming is all that I am saying.

I agree that we have more than Ming and that we have a roster that (if everything pans out) is shaping up very nicely. Hopefully in a couple of years everyone will reach their stride and we can make our championship runs.

PS: RC Cola, thanks for the info.

the very fact that espn lists raef lafrentz, or anyone for that matter, as a "Shaq stopper" undermines any credibility that it may have.

I think the lakers listed shaq at 330 but he played at around 350 most of the year.

After toe surgery he will be about 400lbs, but still cat quick. Stopping shaq is scoring better than half of what he scores. If shaq scores 30 and your center score 20, you have a very good chance. If shaq scores 25 and your score 15-17 you have a good chance. Thats why the Kings were in it to win it because shaq was scoring 25 and vlade was scoring 15, but when shaq started dropping 30+ and vlade was still at 15, the l's started coming.

I know. I only got it because of SF was on the cover, and they had a good record of making good games. I rented NBA2K2 and was shocked. I may have officially switched brands. (I'll probably rent both of the new ones, and decide which is better.)

I think you have to beat the Lakers with good passing for easy shots like the Kings did. They've gotten the closest to dethrowning Shaq, Kobe and the "cba 10". Of course, I don't think there is one player with the Lake show that is cba caliber, but that may just be me.
