I'm looking at it from Sacramento's point of view. They got Landry for Martin. We had a deal with Sacramento before NY got involved. Morey was willing to trade Tmac/Landry for Martin and expirings. I think we're very lucky the Knicks wanted in.

The price for Martin: Landry. The price for Hill and picks: taking on Jeffries' contract. Les is paying a hefty luxury tax hit next year because of Jared.

A really strong season with a long run in the playoffs would greatly improve my attitude. And as to Jefferson, I don't know if he plays like this all the time, but against the Rockets he looks like a Hall of Famer.

I was trying to check out Jefferson on the net and came across this gem. If it's already been posted, my apologies, but reading this made me improve my opinion of Mister Jefferson. From TwinCities.com:

Timberwolves' Al Jefferson plans busy summer highlighted by workouts with Hakeem Olajuwon

Timberwolves forward Al Jefferson was on crutches at this time a year ago, two months after season-ending knee surgery. The injury kept him from working out most of the summer and cost him preparation time for the season. Not this time. Jefferson is gearing up for a much more active offseason to make up for last year's idle summer and improve his performance and conditioning.

"Normally, I take a month off after the season but I'm only taking two weeks, then it's back to work," Jefferson said before the Wolves' season finale Wednesday night against Detroit. "This summer is going to be real big for me."

Jefferson, invited to the USA Basketball tryouts in the summer, said he plans to remain in the Twin Cities to do his workouts. The Wolves' leading scorer struggled through injuries and personal problems most of the season.

Jefferson led the Wolves in scoring (17.1) but admitted that his surgically repaired left knee affected his stamina and mobility. The six-year veteran also missed six games — two because of the death of his grandmother, two for a DUI arrest and two because of an ill family member.

"This is something I really want to do, to make myself a better player, to get in better shape and to get my body right," said Jefferson, who had 16 points and 11 rebounds Wednesday night. "I've had this kind of workout schedule before. I know I can do it again. I want to be an all-star player in this league."

A key part of Jefferson's offseason agenda includes workout sessions in Houston with hall of fame center Hakeem Olajuwon, who was known for his excellent footwork in the post. Olajuwon has made himself available to work with NBA players. He spent time last summer with Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant.

"Olajuwon been one of my favorite players since I came into the league," Jefferson said. "I'm hoping he can take my game, on offense and defense, to another level.''
Jefferson said he plans to do about four weeks of weightlifting and conditioning before going into a gym to work on basketball drills.

    Great article.

I gotta admit, the thought of getting Jefferson has me salivating. You're gonna have to part ways with somebody though. We could offer them a good package and with their situation, they need to do something. Hmmm, I'm sensing another Donnie Walsh type bambozal from Morey this summer.

I like the notion of getting KG. Maybe alongside with scolaat 4/5, he got heart, which i still think we lack somewhat.

That was the best end-of-season writeup on the Rockets anywhere on the Internet. Thanks, clutch.

You bring up a good point. I think everyone saw how important Yao/Deke were to this team this year. I knew Yao would alter shots just by his size but I felt at times hurt us in certain areas in defense. But having size is very important for our defense.

I think Martin will play even better than he did this year but the key to this is him. What I mean by this is him getting healthier during the offseason. Putting in the time to work on his conditioning and his defense. He's a small frame guy but his speed should be able to help in certain areas.

If Morey is to get Al Jefferson, it's going to come with a cost. But Jefferson's value is low right now. We have pieces that Minny needs to continue to build for their future. Do we have the best pieces? No because a team like the Thunder could surely make a deal with them. Harden would help out big time for T-Wolves.

I do see where you're coming from but Houston was going to end up paying for the Luxury tax regardless.

JJ will be useful for this upcoming season. My gut feeling tells me that we'll see even more trading this upcoming season. With the fear of a lockout, teams are going to want to move large contracts. Expiring contract will be more important than what they were this year.

In the end, I trust Morey. I stated this several times this year. This offseason and up to the trading deadline in 2011 will determine where Morey stands as one of the best GM's in the league. All eyes are on him to finish the job. He did a great job with T-Mac's contract for K-Mart, Hill, and the draft picks. We did lose Landry but it was a smart move. Now Morey needs to finish the job. Les has given him the tools to move forward and now Morey has the assets to make this team a contender for the next 3 to 4 years.

What amde that trade great was, even though we got Jeffries, Jeffries is still an oay bench player. Is he overpaid? Yes, definitely. But can he be of some use on the court? Yes. It's not like Brian Cook where he was just there to balance the salary and had no on court impact. Jeffries can have some impact in a game.

I think anyone that knows basketball will tell you that Jeffries can add to a team. Is he vastly overpaid? Sure but you could almost say the same thing for Battier. I view him right now as insurance for next season and an expiring contract.

Mike Miller with our MLE and trade Battier, Andersen, Jefferies and a draft pick for Bosh and we will be the champs in 2011.

Scola may not be classically handsome, but has a certain rugged yet friendly quality about him that is attractive to fans, teammates, and the ladies. Al Jefferson, on the other hand, scares children (and is injury-prone).

Mike Miller made sense when we didn't have Chase. Now that we have Chase, it wouldn't make sense to go after him.
