    Hakeem? he's alright I guess.

I think I can take him 1-on-1 when he's like 80, have both hands tied behind his back, and his legs feet chained to the ground.

Hmm Have to respond to my own post...

You say that a SG such as T-Mac is better than a C such as Hakeem...

So the best way to rate this is how that player can carry there team.. Not how many points they can get in a game...

T-Mac has NEVER made it past the second round..

Hakeem - Has only missed the playoffs 4 times in his 18 yr career..

    Career highlights and awards
    2× NBA Champion (1994, 1995)
    NBA MVP (1994)
    12× All-Star (1985-1990, 1992-1997)
    2× Finals MVP (1994-1995)
2× NBA Defensive Player of the Year (1993-1994)
    6× All-NBA First Team Selection (1987-1989, 1993-1994, 1997)
    3× All-NBA Second Team Selection (1986, 1990, 1996)
    3× All-NBA Third Team Selection (1991, 1995, 1999)
    5× NBA All-Defensive First Team Selection (1987-1988, 1990, 1993-1994)
    4× NBA All-Defensive Second Team Selection (1985, 1991, 1996-1997)
    NBA All-Rookie Team (1985)
    NBA's 50th Anniversary All-Time Team

Yet that's not all you've said. You said that Tracy McGrady was a more dominant player than Hakeem Olajuwon before attempting to backtrack by saying that since Dream had the longer stretch, he had the better overall career, and that is simply absurd. Tracy McGrady, despite being a prolific scorer, failed to advance and failed time and time again to make any of his teammates better. This is why he is the inferior, less dominant player. Winning a scoring title doesn't mean much when you jack up countless shots and can't make those around you better.

Were he newer here, I might be inclined to agree. But this has been The Passion of the Tinman for more than 10 years now, so I rather doubt it.

Indeed, and those of us who followed his career from the time he joined the Cougars, and from the beginning of his NBA career, can truly appreciate just what he accomplished. I noticed someone was saying "He didn't want to have a dominant personality and tried to stay humble and away from controversy, so he did not get as much media hype as someone more marketable." That person simply doesn't have a clue about the man and his progression as a player. Hakeem had a dominate personality, and he exerted that personality on the court, where it mattered. It took years for him to become anything approaching "humble," constantly getting in fights the first few seasons, being ejected and fouling out, frequently because he would get pissed off. Yes, The Dream could get pissed off and showed it. He was a man to be feared. Eventually, his game produced all the fear needed to keep the opposition back on their heels, but it didn't happen overnight.

you're argument is still one-dimensional. tmac was no doubt an incredible talent and could "take over" games offensively, but he never did it when it counted. and hakeem could take over games in more ways than one. yeah, he wasn't as versatile of a scoring threat as orlando tmac but he brought it on defense while still doing pretty dam well on offense.

and yeah, they both have those quadruple doubles... oh wait... that's right. tmac never achieved that feat either. but he scored a lot of points!!

Hakeem could take over offensively as well... especially in the playoffs.

Hakeem would single handedly shut down the paint, I mean SHUT IT DOWN!! NOTHING WAS GETTING IN! If he didn't swat it he would scare the hell out of you into a bad shot.
Not only would he pack you *****, he would get the board too. You didn't get into the paint, Dream allowed you to come closer to swat your *****! Did I mention he would come out on guards and give them hell on the perimeter too? His overall hand, foot speed and great timing on blocked shots is unmatched even today.
IF you were to only give him credit for his defensive impact on the game, he would still be an all time great, second only to maybe Russell.

Whoever voted that Dream was overrated might as well stop watching basketball right now because they don't have a clue.

The two years we won the championship Dream was the very best player I have ever seen play basketball. He would dominate on both ends of the floor which is something you don't see.

Over a career MJ is without a doubt the best player ever but those two years Dream was absolutely the best ever.

I think everybody here disagrees with your fake opinion.

It's bad you are telling people that Shaq/Dream of 94/95 couldn't dominate 'like Tmac', but your constant denial and the outpouring of all the real fans here that Rocket fans of all ages know what is fact and which is dookey.

There are alot of Tmac fans here on Clutchfans and I've bumped heads with them, NEVER WOULD THEY say that T-mac was anywhere close to Shaq or Dream.

So not only are you embarrassing yourself, you are actually embarrassing T-mac fans which I didn't think was possible.

You should act like you are playing defense on Jamario Moon and just stop.

I honestly believe I wouldn't even follow basketball were it not for the greatness of Hakeem. I am not a sports fan, but when you see someone who is that great at anything, it allows you to learn to appreciate it. I may spend the rest of my life waiting to see a talent on his level play for the Rockets once more.

ok tell me besides winning the scoring title, what McGrady did in his best season?
Hakeem won the MVP, DPOY, Finals MVP, and a championship, how you can top that?
Hakeem can take over a game, by blocking shots and scoring points, tmac only can score points.
