I think athleticism is a little more concrete than "leadership" and "football IQ".
You can't measure either of those things, but you sure as hell can measure athleticism. Someone could dismiss a perfectly capable QB because he feels the QB lacks "leadership" and it could be argued that there was bias involved because those things are subjective. But, if a running back is dismissed because his athleticism is lacking there is often proof in the form of physical tests.

Wait, just how many good black QBs have there been? Moon, McNabb, Vick, and Williams are the only ones that come to mind while the jury is still out on Young. I'm not sure I would call Leftwich a good QB, are there any others that I'm just blanking out on?

Steve McNair, Aaron Brooks, David Garrard, Jason Campbell, Kordell Stewart and Daunte Culpepper were all starting QB's on winning teams within the last decade.

Geez, you're right, I was blanking out on way more. I especially can't believe that I forgot McNair. I don't know that I'd give you Stewart or Brooks but Garrard and Campbell are at least above average in my (semi-casual NFL fan) opinion. Either way it's clear that I underestimated how many black QBs there have been.

He also said QB, and Jamunches is not a QB, he's a ****** with no football instincts who just happens to have one of the most powerful arms in history.

He is the unholy child of Jared Lorenzan and Jeff George.

    Jeff Lorenzan.

What a waste of talent, makes me sick.

Judging him by what other white running backs have done is a form of racial profiling and in other words..racism.

I would not use a 1st or 2nd round pick on him...3rd at best.

He will not be a feature back and lacks great footwork. He will make a good change of pace back.

There is nothing wrong with that.

There is no denying that the color of his skin will make some teams hesitant to take him, it is just the nature of the way things have been in the NFL for the past 25 years or so.

White guys are QBs, interior lineman, linebackers, while the athletes / speedsters on defense and the skill position players are predominantly black.

    Is he a BRUISER.
The Texans need someone to RAM THE BALL down the Defenses Throat
like a good version of Vonta Leach.

Sad, but true...there is a stigma and it will have a direct impact to where he is drafted...I would want Toby on my team, he's just a great football player...

i don't think he's that bad of a pass catcher. SUre, they are safety valve dump offs, but i don't recall him dropping a lot of balls. In fact, i remember him making some fairly difficult catches...which surprised me

Personally I'd love to see another Larry Centers emerge, a blocking FB who is a lethal weapon catching passes out of the backfield.

It's not a Texans football game until Vonta Leach drops a checkdown pass near the line of scrimmage at the out of bounds marker.

huh...guess i just have blocked it out of my memory.

Although, the more i think about it, maybe i just remember him making the tough catches and dropping the easy ones.

Saying a particular white running back lacks athleticism is provable empirically, saying all white RB's lack athleticism is similar to saying black QB's lack "leadership"...though I will concede that is someone is biased against Black QB's the latter accusation is harder to disprove.

I liked watching Toby run at Stanford, I hope he does o.k as a pro, but if he doesn't it wont be some genetic characteristic encoded in his Dna as a white guy that prevents him, he just won't be good enough.
