im surprised at the lack of media coverage im seeing for bill white. my impression as someone here in austin is that his profile is extremely low. im really not hearing anything about him on the news as far as him going out and 'stumping', which is about the only thing ricky-boy does well. he needs to get his little cowboy hat and go out there w/ a slightly exaggerated texas accent, slap some backs and kiss some babies.
I think yall are underestimating Rick Perry. He's the quintessential politician who's managed to be the longest serving governor without accomplishing much work, praise or positive attention.
My boss and I were talking about White's chances. My boss is from Nebraska and I was telling him that I find it strange that White would want to try to make this run given that TX governor is basically a ceremonial position and White was such a hands on mayor. My boss was like that's true, but the TX governorship is a direct line to the White House. I would love for White to win and eventually become a presidential hopeful one day.
