Not surprising that Americans aren't talking about this, but a good deal of European airspace has been shut down for the last week because of ash from a minor Volcano that erupted in Iceland. I've been looking for some decent pics but knew I wouldn't find any until Boston.com's The Big Picture got to it. Mother Nature. Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler Click for more pics: http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/2010/04/more_from_eyjafjallajokull.html 2010 eruptions of Eyjafjallajökull Aftermath of the 2010 Eyjafjallajökull eruption Air travel disruption after the 2010 Eyjafjallajökull eruption
Yeah, until you just posted this, I hadn't heard a thing about a volcano completely shutting down international travel. and....erotic?? I was assuming you found a picture of Alessandra Ambrosio standing in front of molten lava.
Amazing pictures, thanks for posting (even though I am stuck in Asia thanks to Eylxjflksadjflöksadjflökjasdölkjfölksdjflöksdjalfkjsadklöfjlöll).
Maximilian, An inaptly titled thread with only 10 different replies (until the American Pride brigade from the D&D showed up, pushing it to 14) only proves my point. I imagine most people were drawn in by the nerdy pop culture reference anyways, then devastated to learn that it had nothing to do with JRR Tolkien and dismissed the pictures as graphic renderings. But with the integrity of Americans at stake, I suppose it is OK to merge the threads. That's terrible. Especially if it means you'll be missing the Bayern game tomorrow...
I was happy and proud to contribute a Forgetting Sarah Marshall reference in that thread. God Bless the USA, Ronny. Keep fighting the good fight.
You only put effort into the things you care about. Have any of you guys read the Symposium? It's basically a bunch of ancient Greek philosopher's sitting around talking about love. They finally get to Diotima, the only woman speaking, and she talks about how our conception of love and desire grows as we get older. Initially we enjoy superficial forms of symmetry and desire the young body. Then we begin to see the beauty in all bodies, in hopes of finding the beauty of the soul. And once we see beauty in the soul, we begin to appreciate the beauty of laws and structure of society. And then you have Mother Nature, who and disregards all forms of structure and symmetry, despite being so wise and standing the test of time. She humbles us. She puts things into perspective while using subtle erotic symbolisms to remind us that the psyche of the planet earth is not so different from our own. It's these displays of omnipotent power with complete disregard for laws or structure that triggers the imagination of the dominant lover in all of us. Spoiler How beautiful it is.
Breaking News: Flights Set to Reopen in UK http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/8633451.stm If anyone happens to be flying to the UK, I'm pretty confident that you won't be delayed on your return trip. And that's a Ronny guarantee.
