The fact is, every PG the Lakers face in the postseason burns Derek Fisher. EVERY SINGLE ONE.

Nothing we nor the Rockets organization didn't already know. What we are going to find out is how good Elston Turner is in coaching up KM to play decent defense.

First, let's get Shane, our defensive leader, back. Second, KM needs to bulk up and unlearn bad habits on defense. If we expect him to expend energy defending, we have to expect a drop (hopefully slight only) in his offensive efficiency.

The last resort is to break up the AB-KM combo or at least play them less minutes together to hide their vulnerability. But yeah, let's give the good guys a chance at one season with Yao and a good defensive big first.

Maybe it was just coincidence, but it seemed like our defense got a lot worse after the trade.

At the same time, our offense got a lot better.

We'll see if they balance each other out.

    Mystery solved.

Shane and Ariza provided more defense. Ariza and Martin provide less defense.

What about Battier and Martin? They always say Battier makes those around him better.

his offensive skills are too good to pass up even if he is a bad defender. Martin monstly has to defend the three against the opposing teams 3rd best wing player. Battier and Ariza can do the dirty work and Yao can make sure that person doesn't go in the paint. Defense is a team game and I think for the first time as well, Martin has someone to teach him how to play defense. Sacramento has never asked him to play defense. He seems willing to learn and thats all we can ask.

I am a little surprised Nocioni is on the list. He is feisty, likes to harass people, moves his feet well and plays hard. He should be a decent defender but I guess not.

What? You expect Martin, Battier, and Ariza to be on the floor at the same time?

This list was legit till I saw fisher, noicioni and David west..Don't say fisher is terrible defender the guy is old and a lot slower now..but 2 seasons ago was a very good and physical defender. Hell...fisher basically bullied tmac around during there play off battles. And David west? The guy is very physical for his size, cavs usually make west guard the best scorer on the team ( when Parker is out) and for noicioni, the guy is a decent all around defender.

Rafer freakin' Alston learned to be a decent team defender with the Rockets. Maybe we should give Kevin a chance to get with the program before passing judgement.

I think he usually is, but this year with the Kings he's just wanted to get the hell away from Sacramento... and didn't get his way yet!

I agree, Jeff was much better last year on both ends of the floor and having Flynn as your teammate doesn't help either.

A step too low for most SFs, too small for most PFs. As a result, fouls too much. And putting most players on the line isn't a defensively efficient thing to do.
