He scored 18 points, grabbed eight rebounds and made a couple of plays early that made you fear for the rims. But in the end, Stoudemire looked too much like the old Amar’e for the Suns to prevail against Portland. Stoudemire was stifled all night by the defense of LaMarcus Aldridge and Marcus Camby. He became frustrated at his inability to finish consistently the rim. He became flustered at fouls called against him as he tried to go through defenders on his path to the basket. In short, Stoudemire did not look anything like the player who has been at the core of the Suns’ strong finish after the All-Star break, nothing like the guy who thinks he’s deserving of a maximum contract this summer. It’s one thing to say the Blazers played good, solid defense. It’s what they did and what everyone expected. But what’s expected and needed from Stoudemire if the Suns are going to advance is to be smart enough to pick his spots and get around that defense, not simply try to knock everyone down in a rush for dunks. Nash said after the game that he has to do a better job of getting Stoudemire the ball in positions where he can score. That’s called taking one for the team and trying to prop up your teammate. It’s only one game. It promises to be a long series now. This is no time to panic yet. But it will be if a different Stoudemire doesn’t show up for Game 2.
Amare is a rich man's Carl Landry. Same style on both ends. Amare is al little bigger, a little stronger and reached a little higher.
Amare is overrated. The reason he is any good is because of Steve Nash ability to create easy play for him. He was literally outplayed and dominated by Adridgea and Marcus Camby....they're just taller and better than Amare and they play great D. The truth hurt...and you see the truth in that game....the truth is Amare ain't that good and he knew it sitting on the bench. He knew the players going against him is BETTER than him and he was frustrated because he couldn't do anything about it. And that makes it hurt even more because he thought he's BETTER? NO..i don't think so!! That's why people that want to trade for Amare is stupid...you guys failed to see true talents. He maybe good playing against some other players..but not against Adridge and Camby. If i have to trade for a player...i rather trade for Adridge. Also i wouldnt' give up Scola for Amare. Scola may not jump as high as Amare but he does the things to win games and he has tricks in the low post that Amare wish he had.
While I'm not one calling for Amare to be on the Rockets, I find this bit hard to swallow. I'm pretty sure that Amare is the type of player who would blame everyone else (teammates, refs, coaches, etc.) before he ever blamed himself for failing. I don't think he would ever see his game as the problem. This is one of the reasons I don't want him this off season, despite all his obvious talent.

You'd rather have Aldridge over Amar'e? Really? Aldridge plays great d? Huh? I really don't understand this near blind dislike of Amare on these forums. You think he made jokes about Yao or something. Also by your logic, Amare is better than Scola or anyone we have, because he always tears our team to shreds. What proof is there that Amare would blame others for losing? Because he wanted out of PHX? Guess what, about last year this time Nash was thinking the same thing. Also Amare has been a great player ever since entering the NBA. Nash has not. I'm tired of this "Nash makes Amare." argument and no one ever turns it around. Because Nash wouldn't be too happy if Amare left. Also Amare still does his thing when Nash goes out, Nash makes things easier but he DOES NOT make Amare.
"Finish the rim! Finish it!" Blindbury's proofreading sucks. Have to say I agree with criticizing Amare, though. I don't like him at all.

Not a fan of Stoudemire. The guy is full of himself and only cares about the stats. Without Steve Nash, he is just a taller version Carl Landry.
ive always said hes the PF version of mcgrady and said hes lazy as hell it was funny hearing doug collins sayin how 'lazily' amare went after that rebound that wound up gettin tipped in by a blazer player.. i was like 'yup, somebody actually called him out on it 8 boards per game for an 'explosive great PF' is pathetic, ladies and gents amare is not the answer in Houston, keep it movin
I'm not an Amare fan at all. I couldn't believe how poorly he played yesterday. But give the Blazers credit on defense. The way to beat the Suns is to make Nash work on defense and to play his favorite passing lanes on offense. I know it isn't as simple as it sounds. But to defend them successfully, you just cannot allow Nash the easy pass to Amare on the PnR. And every time Nash goes to the basket for any reason, somebody on D has to guard the passing lane to Amare.
he does not defend well and can be neutralized by good defenses so i say no to Amare, never liked him
