So you don't think Maggette is a upper 3rd tier SF?
And just because hes a black hole on offense it doesn't mean hes not worth 9mil.
The guy puts the ball into the basket rediculously efficiently, and gets rebounds as well. His True shooting percentage is 61.5%.

And Duhon wasn't overpaid when he signed the contract. At the time he was worth 5mil.

yes, because he's been in the league for 6 years, been with 4 different teams and still has no basketball skillset. he can't shoot the ball, he can't dribble the ball and he's easily upset/agitated and makes bad decisions because of it.

im SURE he'll megically progress and get better after 6 seasons he's been in the league, right? /sarcasm

FYI, you're delusional if you think ariza has any potential to be worth his contract.

I consider guys like Sasha Vujacic and Jason Kapono scrubs as well when talking about long term contracts. I believe in maintaining high standards and setting a high bar when evaluating FA talent - I demand excellence from whoever is going to be getting my money.

Sasha got a 3 year, $15 million deal in a strong economy after shooting 43.7% from 3, a career assist to To ratio better than 2:1, playing pesky defense on 1 and 2 guards, and averaging just under 9 ppg. He's also 6'7. I know it's easy to be biased and let our Caucasian roots inflate the value of a good 'ol boy from Duke who grew up shooting jumpers in his driveway while mother baked cookies, but let's be objective. The value just isn't there for a niche player like Redick unless you have a Chris Mullin type GM itching to throw away money.

I like the cut of the Magic's jersey how its draped over Mickael Pietrus. Now that man is FIT.

While his true value might be what you stated, or should be, Redick's approach is still sound. I think its exactly that, looking to rip a team off.

This year Redick's numbers are comparable to Pietrus who the Magic signed with the MLE 2 years ago. It might even be his own team giving him too much money.

Redick is making $2.8 mil this season as it is. Does his play warrant a raise for twice as much? I dont think so. I think he's doing what he's supposed to be doing. Though in the NBA thats how things seem to happen. Mom's Dukie cookies can indeed get you paid.

What does Sasha Vujacic, Kyle Korver and Jason Kapono have in common? No not Caucasion roots, they're all 6'-7" and above. Redick is 3 inches shorter with shorter reach. Korver just set an NBA record for single season 3pt% and at times he was considered a drag on payroll. If Redick gets over $4 mil a season we'll know the NBA hasnt learned its lesson.

as far as fitness goes, van gundy said redick is in the best shape of all the people in the team. He also won the team's offseason Iron man award, i guess its a series of fitness tests they do in, yes thats with All the magic...the guy isn't your ordinary shooter, that is his specialty, but he brings other things to the table, fact is, with the right team, system and personell, he can help a team win and make them better, he has something to offer thats for sure

But heres the thing, Redick ISNT a niche player. Hes actually very versatile.
He can guard both guard positions and can play the 1 and the 2 on offense.
Believe it or not, this guy actually has court vision.
He IS NOT a combo guard.

JJ isn't a scrub, but there is a reason they traded for carter, signed pietrus and signed barnes. Reddick is a 3m player in this league. He can't create a shot, is an avg defender, and for the most part is a 20 minute guy on every team he plays for.

we got ariza for a very good price, whoever says he is being over payed must be high as a cloud in space. he is the perfect player to have playing next to martin and brooks, other than lebron james. he is a lengthy, athletic, defender who can dunk and as shown by his playoff performance last year be a very streaky 3 pt shooter. he can be the sf version of robert horry. i mean would you rather have had us waste the mle on marcin gortat last year? uggghhhh...gross...

solid defender, I would think not. He is average at best, as a perimeter defense he lacks the length and speed of his counterparts. He is a great shooter and has improved his defense.

by the way those comparing him to peitrus, peitrus is clearly more athletic, but in terms of actual production, however they do it, redick has managed to be more productive in slightly less minutes the peitrus who is a mid level contract guy in slightly less minutes than MP, redick averaged more points, more assists, less turnovers, better free throws, fg, and 3 points.

forgot to add, hes not really needed for the rockets, but he can certainly be serviceable to teams who have stars especailly low post presence and the right offense he can be very productive and compliment those stars so that they do better too

Plus he is starting to drive the basketball toward the hoop on offense now. He used to only hover around the three point line and shoot but now he is becoming a more complete player.

If the Rockets had the chance to get him, I would love to see him in a Rockets uniform.

Watch this video starting at 5:35. JVG says some great things about him and it shows some of his skills. The whole video does a great job of showing how he has progressed in his NBA career.
