If we were able to get past the Jazz? Obviously, we lost but I'm curious.

We would of had Warriors in round 2 which I believe would be an easy win for us.

The only team in our way would pretty much be the Spurs. Yes, the Cavs would meat us in the finals but there is no way in hell LeBron and that supporting cast could win it all.

    Thanks.

Most heartbreaking series I've ever experienced as a Rocket.

We had a better chance in 2009, but we lost anyway.

    Id say no

I wouldn't have look passed Warriors as an automatic win in that series, that team was more deep than us.

Name the bench we had (Bonzi left before the playoffs started)

Head, Novak, Vassilis, JHoward, Deke, and our backup PG was John freaking Lucas III

Warriors series, we probably would win in 6, but Spurs would've been the major test

The 2005 Rockets were a helluva lot better than that 07 team

seriously, that is all you have to add? Why do you even bother coming to fan forum. The OP started a perfectly normal thread topic.

The 2007 series still bothers me to this day. Match ups were perfect for us moving towards the NBA Finals. While it always hard to project one series, let alone three, I do believe that the Rockets could have won the NBA championship that year.

We would have had home court in the second round against the Warriors, that would have been enough to get us through. Also, assuming that we met the Spurs in the Western Conference Finals, winning in San Antonio would not have been impossible. During that season, the Rockets won both times they played in San Antonio. Once, without McGrady, and once without Yao.

Damn, that Game 7 loss still hurts. We are coming up on the three years and I still remember the empty feeling walking out of the Toyota Center that night. It was one of the most painful losses I have ever dealt with. I think I was depressed for a solid week.

We would have lost to the Warriors. Warriors were hot and they would have run us out of the building. They would have also fronted Yao all game and we all know how that would end up.

Which is sad because half the players from the 2005 team weren't even in the NBA in 2007.

Ridiculous, that 2007 team had Yao, T-mac and a bunch of scrubs.

For the same reason Kobe and Shaq couldn't win until they got some better role players, or nearly any team for that matter. If you don't have the quality role players, you ain't going to win.

As the way how that team was chocking, first round exit was their best result.

I agree with Dave2000's entire post here. No way were the Warriors an easy pass to the West Finals for the Rockets. It was a huge upset for the 8th to knock off a 1st (Dallas) and that opened the door for a team like the Jazz, but GSW was 2-1 against the Rockets that year. The Rockets were a slowdown, halfcourt team with deady interior defense. The Warriors were a fast-tempo, smaller team that fronted and swarmed Yao Ming and played with a "nothing to lose" attitude.

Yao had a couple of big games against them, but in their last matchup, they completely prevented the Rockets from even getting him the ball (Yao took just 4 shots). I was at that game -- a very critical home game for the Rockets too (coming off a home loss to the Jazz and trying to catch them for homecourt). It was a game in which T-Mac played 7 minutes and then shut it down, saying afterwards that they were already in the playoffs and he wasn't going to rush back or anything (then Utah collapsed and he rushed back).

I wonder more about what would have happened had the 2004-05 Rockets beat Dallas, as should have happened. McGrady was at his best as a Rocket then and that team was clicking in the final half of the season (35-14 to close).

    I agree with this.

Also in regards to Dave2000 and Clutch's comments, I agree that '05 team was more talented. My problem with that, though, was that '05 was a tougher road to the gold through a talented Phoenix team, a peaking San Antonio team, and a solid Pistons team.

I think our team when we were playing Dallas was the closest thing to us getting the championship. A team full of heart and hunger.

The refs screwed us completely and I'll never forget it. I hate the NBA and yet I keep coming back to it, hoping for our Rockets. :(
