Unfortunately, my parents wouldn't pay for housing in the summer... i always ended up doing an internship in Houston and living at home... but it was cool, i liked being away from friends for 3 months and than catching up on an entire summer's worth of their lives... it was a strangely fun experience for that first week (rekindling the bonds of friendship and all that jazz...) lmfao!!!!!
RC, In colege you have to take classes you don't care about also.. In any degree plan, there are courses that are required that dont have a dang thing to do with the degree you're going for. For example, I'm a CIS major and I have had to take technical math, some sort of speech class, a couple of English composition courses...and a pysch class..and then my favorite...PE classes!!(can you say co-ed sports?) btw, classes start for me on the 26th...Directory Services and Advanced DB..here I come...
Well i start my sophmore year in high school on monday and i am terrified b/c i'm moving to a new campus and i dont know if i am going to adapt well to the big change!
Typical Indian parents: wanting their kid to go to bed at 10 BEFORE school starts. LOL! I remember my first semester at UT like it was yesterday (Fall '98). My dumbass thought that by taking a bunch of morning classes I'd free up my afternoons. Little did I know that I'd taken some of the WORST professors on campus, and waking up for MWF 8AM classes sucks balls. I remember being amazed at the thousands of people flocking to class on Speedway on the first class day. My best advice for your 1st semester in college: buy lots of condoms, and don't take any hard classes. Your first semester is usually your worst. I had a 2.5 my first semester. Now that I only have 10 hours left till graduation, it's a 3.1 ~ average for electrical engineering.
Wasn't sure, mainly just speculation. I assumed in college that you would narrow it down to one, or a few subjects, therefor taking only relevent classes.) BTW, I'm not an Indian. My dad is just a bit strict when it comes to school. He just wants me to go to college and get a good job, I guess. It must be working though, because I'm the best in my grade in GPA! (though we are only 2A, and there are a lot of dum... not smart people.)
At least you kids (that is, those among the posters in this thread who are still going to school) get a summer vacation to come back from. Let's see, which would I prefer... being forced to return to classes after a 3-month hiatus to shirk work with my peers or being forced to work year round and spend my only time away from the office visiting relatives?
Yeah, like I stated earlier I start school tomorrow, but not just any school. I become a freshman tomorrow! Do ya'll have anything I should know about high school that would be helpful? Thanx
I was a freshman last year. Maybe be different because my school is very small, but I liked my freshman year. I seemed to have more freedom. Its kind of weird to be in classes with guys older than you, but I got use to it. You learn to make friends with people not in you grade level, if you haven't already. The only thing I could say is bad is that you are expected to do more, but that didn't really bother me. But like I said, I go to a small school,(2A) so it may be different where you go.
**** school!!!!!, i go back the 27th, going to be a Jr, hope its better than last year, but i doubt it, last year was easy, had sweet teachers, rarely any homework, and went really fast. Crossing my fingers that this year is as easy or easier than last. I could type out the classes i signed up for but no one here prob cares so i might as well not. Whats with everyone saying they liked there freshman year the most, was it cuz the classes were the easist or what? for me i dont think any year will be as great as my sophomore even though i havent even finished HS. I guess i think that cuz last year, i had 2 of the best teachers in the school and the Seniors voted for the best teacher 1 teacher of mine won it and another was nominated.
Almost my thoughts exactly, except I'm going to be a Sophmore. I'm bored, so I wouldn't mind hearing your classes. I'll do mine now, though I don't quite remember if I get them right. Its been a while since I signed up. English 2 AP (or Pre-AP I can't remember.) Algebra 2 Either Chemistry or some kind of lesser chemistry class. Athletics Spanish 3 World Geography, I think And I think CISCO 1 or BCIS 1, I don't remember which. I forgot exactly what I had put down. It was near last school year when I did, so its a little hard.
Heres my classes: (dont have schedule, so just the classes i signed up for) Algebra 2 Latin 3 Chemistry 1 English 3 (cant remember the name, just the 3rd year of english) Latin Derivatives (1 semester) Greek Mythology (1 semester) Study hall Weightlifting (1 semester) European History (1 semester) are u taking Algebra 2 and Chemistry as honors classes, or is that how its set up at your school? how are u taking spanish 3? do they count a year of spanish u took in middle school? just curious.
Yeah, I took spanish in middle school. I make REALLY good grades, so all my classes are the highest I can take. I had Algebra 1 in Jr.High, and Geometry last year. I'm not sure if I can take Chemistry or not, but I signed up anyway. If I don't, I'll take some integrated chemistry and physics thing. I couls have taken it last year, but chose Biology. You got some pretty cool choices. We are poor, so we don't have many choices to choose from. We may have German and French to go along with Spanish next year, but only the first ones. We also don't have much to choose from for social studies either. I hated art, and was lucky to take Theatre Arts last year instead of some drawing class. But I hated theatre too.
rc ur lucky. im gonna b goin to this big ass high school...theres a thousand people in my grade alone im freakin terrified
I don't even think our whole district has a thousand people! Probably though. There are probably at leats 50 or so people in my grade. I can't really remember. Let's just say I know who everybody's name is. Know just about everybody's name in the high school too. Just from 1 year. I don't have a problem with being in a small school, but we have a money problem. Or so it seems. Not many choices too choose from on the schedule. I think we are getting better, but I still wish we had some oil under the school or something.
