If they were to get Bosh or some other worthy vet center, then now would be the best time to develop a rookie center. This team currently with Yao returning has the squad the could help develop a rookie, but they need a free agent big for insurance. I know that i have said it already, but this draft has too many good centers in it to pass up.

If they could get someone like Brad Miller for the MLE, that would be great. IMO, any of the centers in the top 30 in the draft who plays good defense would be suitable for our needs.

You know I really think that Shaq would want to play alongside Yao Ming. That could be a scary duo and a very scary presence in the inside.

    I vote Marcus Camby:

    Rebounding: Check!
    Shot Blocking: Check!
    JVG school of defense: Check!
Potential positive presence in locker room: Check!
    Potentially affordable aquisisition: Check!
Averaged over 70 games played last 4 season: Check!
Capable of filling starter minutes: Check!

All things considered, I believe signing Marcus Camby would provide the most bang for the rockets' bux.

I always thought the Rasheed Wallace 3-4 years ago would've been the best fit next to Yao. Rasheed as a great one-on-one post defender, excellent help defender, and had a respectable shot to stretch the D all the way to the 3 pt line. He also was notorious for being overly "passionate" and that might actually complement Yao's silent game well. The only knock would be that he doesn't rebound the ball particularly well so we'd need a good rebounding 3 to make up for hiim.

    Marcus Camby, Age: 36

    Pau Gasol, Age: 29

I have a hard time understanding why you'd want Camby over Gasol based on that alone?

I think LaMarcus Aldridge's game would complement Yao perfectly ;)

Andray Blatche! if Shane can get him straight - he'll be perfect... can play both PF/C, has outside shot, length, passing, and athleticism AND not too expensive

Tim is on the way down now, not the same player anymore.

I would be all over Al Jefferson or Kevin Love, and it seems likely that one of those guys is traded.

Kendrick Perkins would do well with Yao.

Shaq is a horrendous choice because his ego cannot tolerate playing second fiddle. Given that his efficiency is already declining due to his age, to have it further marred by lack of motivation would create disasters both on and off the court.

I say we look for a player via draft, while continuing to develop our current centers. I know we're looking into Brad Miller and I think he's a decent fit, though I wonder where that leaves David Andersen, who has a similar offensive skillset.
