Had a feeling the league was low-balling for the purpose of negotiating the next CBA. Seems the economy is recovering well enough (overall and in the sports world), which by the way was what I remember a sports economist was predicting at Morey's MIT conference.

So it went from 57.7 to 56.1 million. That's it? A meager 1.6 million dollar reduction?

Please tell me where to hide cause apparantly Mark Cuban stated that the sky was falling.

What's this draft position tiebreaker stuff all about?

I mean, they were tied with the Clips, and it has to be regarding their second rounders - but what were the results?

    Great journalism.

Lol this means Knicks gave up those 2 picks and Hill for nothing. I think they can sign 2 max with Jeffries in their roster if Cap will be 56million.

Err no. Jeffries makes 6 million next year. The projected cap was not 6 million less than actual. Because of cap holds and other salary cap issues, the Knicks probably have barely enough for two max contracts.

    Read this.

The draft works by drawing 4 ping pong balls numbered 1-14. There are 1001 combinations that can drawn. 1 of them (11-12-13-14) is discarded if it's picked. The other 1000 are distributed to the lottery teams. The worst team gets the most combinations, and the best (Rockets) get the least.

If 2 teams are tied, they get the average of their combinations. Say 2 teams tied for the sixth worst record. The 6th worst team gets 63 combinations, and the 7th gets 43. Since they tied, each team gets 53 (63+43=106; 106/2=53).

This year the Knicks and Clippers tied for 8th worst record. The 8th worst gets 28, and the 9th worst gets 17. 28+17=45. 45/2=22.5. Since you can't award half combinations, the teams flip for the extra combination. Since NY won, the Knicks have 23 picks and the Clippers have 22.

I got a question: Now that the salary cap is at $ 56.1M next year, it is even more likely that we resign Scola and Lowry, right?

Yes, they have barely enough NOW to sign two max players with the newly stated cap which is higher than anticipated, but JUST ENOUGH for the sake of the Knicks. Stern to the rescue!! Let's watch the Knicks get "lucky" in the lottery also. I think the commish would love to get away with rebuilding the Knicks from his office....or maybe I am just really cynical.

I sure hope so, as Morey has stated we will match no matter what (which makes no sense if someone throws crazy money at them), which is designed to signal everyone to forget about them.

How are there still people out there who don't know that the Knicks' pick belongs to the Jazz this year?

Let's hope not, cause the utah jazz have the knicks' 1st rounder this year, not the knicks.
