I worry about Yao too, DD. As they say, the silence is deafening. Folks were lamenting the end of the season yesterday, but time moves fast (at least after 20, lol), and in a matter of a few months training camp will once again start. Will Yao be available???

There is a saying that all types of doctors say. Which is, "No news, is good news." In reference to Yao, it could be a good thing that we haven't heard much.

Not sure I would go this far. Over the last 10+ years they've been the second best Pac-10 team in football behind USC, and have made a couple of runs to the elite 8 in the tournament.

no way for senior alderman, not possible as i believed he's still under contract with us.

However, junior Alderman? would he get a shot at being the head coach instead of working with his father?

Someone posted this, but since maybe few people here heard it, I'll repeat it:

Daryl Morey was asked about this on SR610.

    "No chance."

No sense of irony, no sound of worry, just a tired, half-amused,

    "No chance."

What the heck are you looking for? They frequently mention how everything is fine. Are you looking for bone scans on his foot or something? What is there to update other than that he's progressing fine (which has been updated), or would you just like to hear that same thing every single day?

No news is good news with Yao.

I think the best way to find out your answers is to go to Yao's restaurant. Order something. Say you ordered something else and DEMAND to see the owner. Then you can ask Yao all those questions.

Or you can try to e-mail Keith Jones or Tom Clanton? meh.

Adelman was the highest coach in the NBA when he was Sac at around 6 million a year. I don't know how much he makes with the rockets but I doubt its any less than he has been making 5 years ago. He's not going to give that up to coach college. Its not like football where college coaches make as much as pro coaches. The only successful NBA coach who has ever went to coach college was Larry Brown but was way before good NBA coaches starting making 5 million plus.

that list of potential candidates is hilarious, there is no way they could get tom izzo, rick pittino, or billy donovan, throw in adelman and pj carlisemo...

these guys need to get real their just trying to sell some papers...

Oregon has the tools to get their crap together and make a big splash in basketball. If the commit in a big way they can land PJ at the least.

    Uh, okay.

There are 30 teams in the NBA. There are about 1-2 players on every team you need to truly worry about.

How many teams are in Div. I NCAA basketball? The scouting reports is easy when you play in your conference. But if you somehow get to the tournament, the scouting report gets immensely tougher.

And like some other poster said, coaches also have a hand in recruiting, etc. NBA coaches don't do it as often, since they have higher management.

Adelman leaving? If not this year, then soon.

Morey made a huge mistake not developing Jack Sikma or Elston Turner. Morey also missed out on the Brad Stevens (a.k.a. "Pedobear-Approved Coach") sweeps.

    Thank goodness Adelman is leaving.

Now we can pick up Eddie Jordan, who just got fired from the 76ers org. for being too good.

Interesting. He does like Oregon. He may want to finish up his career in a less stressful environment without the bureaucracy of an NBA team.

    The return of JVG? ;)

Actually it would be perfect for him sinc it's closer to home and he's getting close to retirement age. He'd have more control over players as well and there may be greater job security there than here.

coaches are getting younger because older coaches leave for the nba when they become succesful and/or are more easily stolen by other programs. A young hotshot coach is more likely to stick around and sign for a longer period.

are you kidding? Only "1 or 2" players to worry about in the NBA? This isn't the 60s. You have to worry about a lot more than that, these are professionals, not teenagers who were taking PE not too long ago. It's at the college level where you can focus on 1 or 2 guys consistently and win. Consider this:

    - college season a lot more shorter than the NBA season, less games to prepare for

    - less college games per week compared to NBA, thats more time to prepare for each college game, where in the NBA you may not even get a practice in.

-NBA teams travel farther during the season and more often

-in the tourney, college teams that get to the tourney don't have 64 teams to scout, they only need to scout the teams in their path and realistically a high seed isn't going to be scouting much for a potential championship game early on. There's really not that much more to scout and once again you get several days off most of the time

    - college coaches don't deal with mid-season player acquisitions like a lot of nba coaches do and they don't as much with egos or attitudes either. If they do, they can control them more easily since college kids are just that, kids, and are less likely to challenge a coach. They aren't paid, so they have to listen more, where nba players feel like they dont always have to.
