I guess now the Broncos replace one headcase, Brandon Marshall, with another one in Dez Bryant.

Dont get your panties in a bunch Nuggets4

This is a very deep draft and the Broncos have:
    2 First Round
    2 Second Round

picks in this years draft. If the front office can utilize those picks effectively then the future is bright.

Stop believing in the media-fed windmill of ignorant rumors.

    Yes, he's immature. Yes he's a "follower."

HOWEVER, consider that how he grew and still committed NO crimes and has never even come close to anything criminal or illegal.

The coming late to practice and games rumors are NOT true. Trust me, I've been to games and so have others, and he was always there for warmups. Plus, him and the rest of the team are required to meet up an hour before the game starts to start "the walk" down to the stadium.

He has NEVER been a headcase or anywhere close to a prima donna during his time at Stillwater. He never celebrated excessively or b****ed and moaned for the ball.

The Jason Cole article on Yahoo started this whole rumor mill about that and it was completely untrue. The fellow Cowboys fans have said the same thing too.

But on talent alone, most of the scouts have already said he's better than Crabs and the best since Calvin Johnson since 2007.

Yeah, because comparing Charlie Casserly era moves to Rick Smith era moves makes a whole lot of sense. It's not as if the Texans have been one of the better drafting teams in the league since Smith came in... oh, wait. What's that? Arguably one of the better overall classes in league history in 2006, and one of the top defensive players in the entire league from pick No. 15 last year? Or picked a solid LT starter in 2008, and before his injury, a Pro Bowl-level RB (Slaton) in the third round? Comparing Smith-era decisions to Casserly-era decisions is like insulting the New England team management of Bill Belichick by pointing to an example from Pete Carroll's time.

Aside from that, I also never understand the criticism in some of these picks-for-players trades. It's almost as if people "count" a draft pick twice - first, the holding of the pick, and two, the player they get - and don't consider that you only end up with the player. The reason I say that - even with a ridiculously spotty track record in college, there's a Josh Freeman-type that goes in the first round every season, based on impressive workouts and/or interviews. Essentially, some team is trading their first round pick for Josh Freeman, or Jimmy Clausen this year, etc. And that's OK - but trading a couple of second rounders for a young, proven commodity like Brandon Marshall isn't? Or in the Schaub case - while his regular season time was limited, there was ample reason to believe, based on practices, league evaluations, preseason, etc. - that he was a very talented prospect. Plus, he was more ready to contribute immediately. I feel like draft picks can get very overvalued by some fans simply because, in theory, they represent unknown possibility.

The same can be said in any sport. If a guy's crapping on your team, what are you supposed to get in compensation if the other team wont trade you a player?

All Pro NFL players getting traded for 4th and 5th rounders baffles me too. Thats a straight admittance that the draft is a crapshoot.

STILL, a player like Brandon Marshall is 1st round pick talent. 2nd round pick for probably the best receiver in the game in the prime of his career?

Ok, maybe headcase isn't the right term, but Dez isn't exactly the brightest dude. Not sure which article you're referring to, but Dez Bryant was a huge grade risk coming out of high school and most people thought is was a miracle that he ever qualified at Ok State. A lot of big programs like Texas and LSU backed off his recruitment due to grade issues.

Then there was this more recent debacle with Deion Sanders, where he lied to the NCAA about hanging out with him, which cost him most of his senior year (a ruling I personally disagree with). Not to mention, he apparently burned bridges with Gundy, who didn't even let him attend the OSU NFL pro day.

He lied because he was nervous and the NCAA was bearing down on him like a bunch of bullies, as a lot of people have described it. He even admitted that (he was nervous)

And please, he did NOT burn any bridges with Gundy you idiot. Sorry, but don't say things like this anymore about things you don't have a clue, just like a lot of those media articles written and those amateur Blearcher Report articles. He worked out with our strength and conditiion coach, Rob Glass , a little before his pro days and leading up to the NFL combine. He still loves OSU and all of the players and the program still supports him.

Lay off the kid. He's immature, naive and not very good with words (although he's smarter than people realize) but he is far from a "bad" person, and certainly nowhere near what the media idiots have painted him as. He does NOT smoke or drink or party like normal college animals and has never touched anything criminal.

Its good that you know the truth and defending Dez on this board , instead of just spitting hot garbage like the above poster ( Baqui99).

And Gundy did make every effort to accommodate him on Pro Day but Dez couldn't make it because of a hamstring injury.

BTW, if there's anyone to blame for all of this , its EUGENE PARKER.

if he had the attitude of AJ, then they may have received a 1st, but he doesnt. Also, it is 2 second round picks, not just one.

they do have valuations based on draft picks that GMs use. They get the 43rd pick this year, right? if so that's 470 value. Assuming they get a mid 2nd rounder next year year, youre looking around 430. compare that with a mid 1st round pick and you are fairly close.

No, I'm just telling the truth about him and especially that whole "burning bridges with Gundy" idiotic, ignorant spew.

Didn't I say he was immature, naive, and not very smart? Was I wearing my orange glasses then?

No and I"m not the only saying that. A lot of scouts who have met him have said the same thing: good kid, but naive and trouble background which surprisingly hasn't taken him down a truly bad path.
(his mother had him when she was 16 and was a drug addict)

Here's an article on Dez Bryant. I just posted this part, but there's more if you click the link.

Dez Bryant - A Diamond in the Rough, not Fool's Gold

    DYSFUNCTIONAL START

Bryant was conceived when his mother was 12 years old. He is the product of what can legally be described as statutory rape, as his father was approximately 40 years old at the time.

Bryant's mom had three children by the time she was 18 and was in jail serving time for drug dealing by the time she was 23.

Bryant's father? He has been out of the picture since that fateful winter night when he kicked his pre-teen son out on the street because the kid took too much food out of the refrigerator.

Bryant lived wherever he could after that. He stayed with friends. He stayed with coaches. He even lived in cars for a short time.

Can you now understand why he doesn't have all the life skills down to a science?

Yet out of this depressing, distressing mess, Bryant is not a lost cause. He is, actually, a diamond in the rough, a grand possibility.

One thing I think we can all agree on is that the NCAA is indeed a big bully and can go f*** itself.

Bullies don't tend to beat up the kid whose dad is district attorney.
