They had a great shooter called KEVIN MARTIN, but the kings were concerned about them playing togheter. the kings needed another post player that would go fight for tyrek's jack ups...... IMHO he is a ball hog.

The Kings had a bad season, right now they are trying to market there young star to get more people to the games for next year. Evans is more suited as SG because he looks to score first on most possessions which is why he is teamed up with Udrih.

Not bothered by it at all. The Kings aren't playing for anything anyways. I think Evans is a stud and I think he'll get better. That's a young team that needs some veteran leadership.

I think Evans will grow as a person. He does remind me more of Brandon Roy than a AI.

The Kings are downright dishonorable. If this is the path that Tyreke is gonna go down as a stat padder, good luck to him.

The best moment of the night was when Kmart let the clock run down without trying to make a new record, as if to underscore the punctuate and highlight crass play of the kings.

Doubt if most people cared or noticed though ;p

    It's pathetic.

You're supposed to be a respectable franchise who values team over individuals, team success over individual accomplishments. You have their radio guys coming in here bragging about robbing the Rockets blind in the Artest deal (Casspi + Greene); They came back after the Landry trade to tell us that they robbed us again, yet they can't seem to manage a better record than fourth worst in the NBA?

Instead, they try to hype and celebrate a MEANINGLESS individual accomplishment. They improved 8 games since last year - 8. They're still a bad team, and it's sad to see them lavishing over a meaningless statistical accomplishment. If that wasn't bad enough, it got even worse when Evans took shot after shot trying to get to the record -- took and missed eight straight shots.

I wouldn't be happy about it if I was a Kings fan. Evans is a good player, but he has a long ways to go.. and he obviously cared more about an individual statistic than he did winning the game. I'd rather have players who put winning first.

people were calling durant selfish after his rookie season too. now, all of a sudden he deserves those shots. same for evans.

also, 5 assists per game isnt easy. i think he's a pretty willing passer.

I compared him to our very own Stevie Franchise before the draft and so far has fit the bill, possibly a more talented but still has the same type of game and weaknesses..... Get to the basket and score! :(

Come on guys... It's not different than Ripken or Karl Malone playing.
    I
know several Kings fans and they were very happy about it. They are in a rebuilding stage and last night's game meant nothing to them. Should they be targeting to do more? Sure but let's not make a big deal over it... If their GM plays their cards right, they can be a strong team in two years. Let's not forget they have a shot at getting John Wall or Cousins.

I understand what the Kings were doing, they're trying to get their fans excited so they can sell tickets next year. But still it was pretty gay.

I was about to use the same Durant example. I watched a lot of Kings games, and this kid is the real deal. He kind of hit the rookie wall in the second half of the season, so don't judge him on a few recent games.

Yes, Battier stopped him recently, but earlier this season Tereke hit the game winning shot against Houston. He abused Kobe, D Williams, C Billups... as I can recall.

He's going to be a superstar(on same level with LBJ, Durant).

I can promise you more than half of the folks on the BBS haven't seen that many Kings games. He's killed a lot of SG/PG's in the West. Not only that, he's put up some big assists games...

I think a lot of people here have made the apt comparison to Steve Francis. He would have averaged 20 that year if he didnt have to spend the first month differing to barkley and olajuwon before they got hurt. The Rockets were also better that year tahn the kings are this year. Francis and Evans are to me basically identical, rim attacking SG playing PG. Francis ended up being an all star level player, but not good enough to actually take you anywhere as the go to guy.

If Steve Francis as a rookie had managed 20-5-5 nearly everyone on this board would've been happy, as it would have been one of the few bright spots for a losing season. The Kings got a little silly about it, but it doesn't really matter.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned that Tyreke's favorite player growing up was Tracy McGrady...

It was a mockery, a sham, utter tom-foolery (sp?). Ok, mention it. But to make it the main focus while a game was still hanging in the balance? I was embarrassed for their organization.

As for Tyreke, he's physically imposing and has the potential to dominate but will he have the work ethic to improve as the great ones do? Don't know.

Didn't see it, but I don't have a problem with announcers playing up stats. They're job is to make it interesting, however possible.

Players are just suppossed to try and win. If Evans played a different game to reach that mark, that's crap. Otherwise fine.

I noticed how Brooks did not change his game when he passed up Rafer for the most 3 pointers in a Rox uni. You wouldn't know it if not for the announcers.

If you notice too, the greats never change thier game to hit a statistical mark. They never make it more then the game. That's a part of why they're great. Sure, the game may be stopped to honor an Hakeem for breaking the shot blocking record, but he doesn't go out there trying to block everything when he knows his team needs rebounds.

it was an absolute disgrace for the game, especially the broadcasters all they cared about is Tyreke reaching the Milestone.
