I've had season tickets since 1980, their first trip to the finals. I'll never forget big Moses guaranteeing a victory over Boston. Man, there have been some great memories, and to think they could all be ruined if the people of Houston don't pass the arena vote. I hate to have my happiness dependent on those people out there that haven't spent their entire life with the Rockets. We all need to get to work and spread the word to Save Our Rockets!!!

Isn't Asian the guy who was CaucasionSensation who used to post here. I haven't seen him in a while which leads me to believe Asian is the guy everybody was talking about in an earlier thread. I don't know, that whole thread flew right over my head.

    Hey guys,
I've been a somewhat Rocket fan since about 1979. I always cheered for the Rockets over anyone else, it's just that I was a HUGE Oilers fan, so that was the only sport I watched every game for. However, I remember being in London in the fall of '93 and watching highlights week after week of that incredible eleven game win streak the Oilers were on. They didn't give any basketball highlights, so it wasn't until I got on the plane to come back to Houston that someone told me "hey the Rockets have won 15 games in a row!" Anyway, the Oilers completely bit the big one when they went into the playoffs, so I was a little bitter towards sports. Only caught the Rockets games sporadically. I didn't even watch the first series we had against the Blazers! (Although I did watch every game in the Sonics series the previous year.) I remember being at Tech, and watching us lose that 20 point lead against the Suns and just being astounded. I didn't even watch game three. But I did end up seeing the Rockets win game four in a local bar in A&M. Watching that win was truly amazing! Especially when that Ainge b@stard threw the ball right at Elie's head. Nonetheless, I became hooked at that moment, and their winning the championship just made it even sweeter. I haven't missed a game since. But I guess I can say I've only been an avid fan since '94.

My intro to the Rox was in 8th grade during the 86 playoff run.

fondest (and not so fondest) memories-

    -Sampson eliminating the Lakers
-Gene Peterson going apesh-t on the last game of the 93 season when David Robinson's shot went in clearly after the buzzer. Gene said BULLSH-T on the radio and we lost home court to the Sonics in a series in which the home team won every game.
-coming back against the Sun's in 94 and 95. I wasn't as fond of Charles during those seasons
-Being at the game that Vernon Maxwell hit the last second 3 against Miami to send it to overtime (94 I think)
-going to game 5 in San Antonio in 95. Unbelievable game - that is the game that most of the Hakeem destroying the Admiral footage is taken from. The Alamodome is a horrible place to watch a game. Must have been 30-40% Rockets fans there, though
-My band got to play the championship party in 95 for the sweep of the Magic. We had to set up and, if they lost, set up again after game 5. A whole lot of 2 fisted drinkers that night. One of my all-time fondest memories.
-getting Drexler, Barkley, Pippen (at the time), and most unbelievably Francis

1983.......Went to see them get blown out by the Warriors. The Summit was half empty and I think the tickets were part of some free promotion. After that I began to check up on them. Then they drafted Hakeem and it was the start of something beautiful.

Well, I'm old enough to have had an Astro Buddy, so I'll throw in my story...

I've been a Rockets fan since they moved from San Diego. Growing up in a small town about an hour from Houston, we got three stations...NBC, CBS, and PBS, so I had a choice of two sportscasts to watch. ABC was not quite strong enough to reach us, though on good days you could watch it through the snow.

Anyway, when the Rockets got Moses and I started to play quite a bit, my interest started to peak. I still remember a piece one of the TV stations did showing Moses schooling folks and rebounding like a demon set to the Spinners hit "Rubberband Man." (The Rubberband Man's come to jam!)

As an aside, we got cable when I was in High School, around 1979 or so. The first week we had it, HBO was offering free previews. I watched a movie where Lynda Carter was skinny dipping in some lake [IMG] and it took me weeks to get over the fact that I had seen a naked woman on my TV in my house. My how times change. [IMG]

My college years were in the same time frame as Phi Slama and so when the Rockets got Hakeem I was ecstatic. You could tell the guy was something special even back then. (I never had the same feeling about Sampson)

My fondest memory of the playoff runs was being in NYC on a business trip and realizing that my Hotel didn't have TNT. I had to find a local sports bar to watch the first game of the Rockets/Spurs matchup and by the end everyone in the place was yelling and cheering when Hakeem would get the ball or make a defensive stop. I was apprehensive about Rocket rooting in New York, but Hakeem completely won over everyone in the place. It was amazing.

I've been a rockets fan all my life. I'm 17 and i remember my dad and i watched the games from the seats right behind the basket. However i became a diehard fan in 94 when they had their incredible start and beat the knicks in 7. I Still remember hakeems block on starks and after we won the title my dad and i celebrated. Then in 95, although i was upset at first about the thorpe for drexler deal because i guess i didnt want to see ot go. However, i loved drexlers game and i watched the utah game where dream and clyde each torched the jazz for 40. I also remember watching game 5 of the phoenix series when we made the improable comeback and won the series. My parents taped it. Also i remember dream schooling robinson and nick andersons choke in the finals and when we won it all it was great.

I live in California by brother is a Sonics fan , he was watching Dikembe Mutumbo lay on the floor laughing while he was screaming $#@*! because the Nuggets pulled off the hugest upset in a long time. But during the start of the 1994 playoffs , I didnt really like basketball but when the Rockets were playing there was something special about them I just liked the way they played with finesse , so Ive been a rocket fan ever since (and the only one i know)

I've been a fan since '86 thanks to my dad's following of the Rockets. My favorite player was always Barkley, so the 94 and 95 playoffs made me hate the Rockets. Obviously, when Chuck came here it was all good again and now Franchise is my fav player. I've come full circle, but I ain't no bandwagoner... I think Scarface and BBmumu can atest to my feelings about the Rockets during the championship years (which were all bad) as well as how devoted I am now (I go to all the Portland games to let Quitten hear how much we care about here in H-town).
