I must say, the Rockets surprised me. I had pegged them with a legitimate shot at winning a top 3 pick. I figured that although we probably wouldn't be the worst team in the NBA, we're at least a shoo-in for bottom-10. The reason? Simply lack of firepower.

But they proved me wrong. Brooks developed incredibly well since last year. Scola proved that he could dominate the post, and doesn't need Yao to get him looks. Landry proved that he was a capable post player in addition to being a super-garbage man. Budinger showed that once again, Morey could get something from nothing.

Hayes, Lowry, and Ariza did not perform past my expectations. But what really surprised me was how no one underperformed expectations. Some might say Battier, but one could see his slight decline even last season. So some further decline with age was expected.

I know I wasn't close to being alone to writing this team off at the beginning of the year. And all of us should give a cheer to the Rockets players, coaches, and management for a job well done!

Jon Barry is spot on. Ariza can't be 1st or 2nd option. But as 3rd or 4th option, he'll be very nice to have.

I felt like Brian Cook did not wave his towel with the enthusiasm he showed last year. I am truly disappointed.

It is funny how all those " Experts" picked Hornets ahead of Rockets. Including Jon Barry and John Hollinger. At least they are both right at West:9.

To be fair they couldn't have expected CP3 to be hurt as long as he was. Shows how unpredictable the NBA is.

I think I did a good job predicting this season. Before the season started I thought the team would win 38-42 games.

I thought 50 wins plus, but I also thought Tmac would contribute some too.

Oh well, 42 or 43 is not that bad.

I thought they'd win at least 40 games.

After that Lakers series it was pretty hard to think these guys would stink it up.

I thought 30-some-odd wins. In the end, they won 40-some-very-odd wins.

    :D

I guessed 48 wins, and I thought that would get the 8th spot. WRONG!

I didn't expect significant help from the rookies. WRONG!

But this is the painful part, I didn't expect Chuck & Shane to be worn down to a nub after the all-star break. They both look like they've lost a step to me and that completely changed the team.

I bet Morey guessed over .500 and RA said "****".

Without McGrady, I figured high 30s, or maybe they crack the 40s with good fortune health-wise.

They've done well, particularly through the first few months of the season.
