Last year I would have traded for him. This year with C-Bud, Martin, Ariza, Battier we have our 2/3 positions well covered. He wouldn't be a starter on this team.

    Please get'r done morey.
    Check this out guys.

    Off season.

    We trade

battier, scola and either budinger or hill and a pick
    (or something around that area.)
    for bosh

    and we sign fernandez
which we all know first hand he is pretty good at shooting especially come crunch time. I like him more than bud. I always thought he had potential

    so our lineup

    Brooks/lowry
    Martin/fernandez
    ariza/(budinger)
    bosh/(hill)
    Yao/Hayes

or maybe we can also somehow get camby as a backup :D now I know
    I'm just dreaming with that.

Actually, how does a Battier/Fernandez trade work straight up? Battier at this stage of his career fits more now with Coach Nate's style.

    Brooks | Lowry
    Martin | Fernandez
    Ariza | Budinger
    Scola | Hill
    Yao | draft

In fact, I'd consider trading any one of our small forwards for Rudy if he wanted to come here. That bench would do pretty damage to a lot of teams' starting 5.

I hope Rudy leaves Portland and is happy wherever he goes. Either he thinks a lot more of himself than he should (which is my opinion) or Nate McMillen is an idiot for how he uses him (maybe partly true).

Yeah and we can find Rudy some fine Latina ass so he isn't alone on his 26th birthday.

On a serious note, I think he would be a great transistion. I would give up either battier or Ariza. Rather give up Battier though.

Like a few people have said, I would have the loved the guy in a Rox uniform but now with Martin and CBUD I don't see it. Now if we trade CBud then I'd be open for it but looks like he wants to start somewhere.

I called it from the beginning, Fernandez's game is too discombobulated for a 2/3 guard in the NBA. You need rhythm and an ability to evaluate your surroundings calmly while you're moving with the ball to find a niche for yourself. That's the issue a lot of Euro players face, they have a few tricks up their sleeves but they lack the tools needed for staying power. The South Americans are much better in this aspect due to their constant perseverance and tenacity (Ginobili, Scola, Varejao). The Euro's take a much more romantic approach to the game where they try to create flow without any rhythm, if that makes sense.

Casspi is one of the few exceptions.

If Rudy went to the Suns

Nash would make him look like an all-star.

Fernandez is talented, and, as most of us know, the guy the Rockets wanted the year they ended up with AB and Landry. Howeve, given that the Rockets already have Martin and Budinger (and AB), I am not sure they really need another wing who is too skinny to be a good defender. The current rotation with two scorers (Bud/Martin) and two defenders (Battier/Ariza) seems more balanced. Fernandez, I think, has better handles than Budinger, but not sure if that is enough of a distinction to add a similar player.

now i know casspi is brown and not yellow  but isn't he israeli(asian?)?

I personally loved how he shot the ball and runs off screens but we already have a lot of that...darn

I got a little flack earlier for saying Fernandez isnt a must-have player with Budinger emerging. Fernandez has upside over Budinger even though he's older, but his skills arent a pressing need now. Portland probably should have traded him when they traded for Marcus Camby.

Some foreigners just cant adapt to the American lifestyle either. Even though foreigners are more equipped to handle American culture cuz most know English, as compared to an American going overseas, its not like Portland is easily confused with Madrid, Spain

They got rid of Rodriguez and that was supposedly his closest friend on the team. That was kind of sad to read, but if you as a player are feeling that you aren't getting enough PT when you have the talent, camaraderie isn't the first thing you'll be feeling towards your teammates.

As everyone else has said Budinger as of now seems to fill the kind of role that Rudy would have played here. But I loved the energy he showed off the ball and it looked like he had a good all-round offensive game that was sadly outweighed by more talent (Roy) experience (Webster) and defense (Batum).

Rudy can be a good NBA player, he's not like those other guys you named...they never show any flashes and sometimes Rudy looks like the second coming of Manu...other times he just looks like a really inefficient player that hurts more than helps...dude is also pretty clutch.

Rudy will probably log big minutes in the playoffs, maybe 30mins per.

Then he'll up his stock and portland will trade him in the offseason.

They might even use him to trade up in the draft?
