I have some pictures from the practice round of the PGA today. You can see them at www.rekieta.com/PGAWEB/PGA.htm Some of the golfer's pictures include: Els, Faldo (and his caddy), Parnevik, Funk, Duval, Howell, Furyk, Cink, Daly and Garcia. Apparently Woods had not yet arrived. I'll be out tomorrow seeing if I can stalk Tiger and his girlfriend. You can click on a thumbnail to see a larger picture and click on the larger picture to see an even larger one.
A few observations from Monday: The course (Hazeltine) is in great shape. It rained a bit but it should be great weather for the tournament. Highs are expected in the upper 70s to low 80s. Daly and Garcia practiced together and the brunt of the afternoon crowd followed them. We stumbled across them teeing off on 1. As soon as Daly hit, he grabbed a smoke. The pictures I have of them on the green are at the par 3 number 8. We happened upon the clubhouse as some of the golfers were leaving for the day (in their Cadillac Escalades). Parnevik wears the same tight fitting uncomfortable-looking pants as he does on the course. Tom Watson would only sign autographs for kids, but he was very nice about it. We ran across Nick Faldo coming onto the 18th tee box. He was going to sign one more autograph, but the kids pen did not work. Luckily my wife (Celeste) was there to provide a working pen and managed to get an autograph as well. We saw Fred Funk. I congratulated him on his 2nd place finish Sunday and his remark was "Yes, the tax man will like it". He was fixing to tee off on the par 5 636 yard 3rd hole and was unaware of the yardage. He asked what it was and I said, "You can hit all you got" (at least I thought it was funny). The souvenir shop has some real nice $145.00 shirts. I hope to get more pictures today and I'll post them tonight. Woods got in a practice round this morning around 6:00 AM, well before the crowd could arrive. Past champions will be conducting a youth clinic this afternoon. It should be an opportunity for some good stalking.
Wow! You'd have to be a pro golfer just to afford the souvenirs! Keep the updates coming -- it's great having a behind-the-scenes peek at the tournament.
If I was going to spend $145.00 on a shirt, those would be the shirts I would buy! They are very nice and appear quite comfortable. I just ask myself - 29 beers or 1 shirt? There are a couple of attractive groups to follow Thursday and Friday: Woods, Toms and Els Watson, Norman and Mickelson I am sure my mother in law would like to follow Norman. She met him once and he was very nice to her and made her a fan for life. I think I may find Garcia and heckle him like they did in the US Open .
Aw man, does that JASC media center come with the Paint Shop Pro 7.0 or just the anniversary edition?! Hmmm, maybe I didn't install it when I did the custom install in my PSP7.0 but thats a nice little thumbnail thing. Tell me more.
mr_oily I bought the JASC media center as a stand alone program. One of the specific reasons I bought it was to put pictures out like this without having to do hardly any work. To produce these particular "albums" took me about a minute (not counting upload time). It's got a few kinks but is a great timesaver to do 'quickie' web albums.
