Can AB be the 2nd option of a very good team? I doubt it. Carl Landry was our go to guy in the 4th Q before he was traded to SAC. We won some games this year not just because of AB. We have a lot of good players in Scola, landry, lowry and battier. When Lowry was injured, we were playing like the worst team in NBA.

I think George Hill (6'2 size) is a better player than AB. Darren Collison and ty lawson in their rookie year are definitely more impressive than AB at the same time. There are a lot 5'11 guys who can do the same thing or even better than AB if they play for this Houston Team (unselfish, high temper offense).

Of course he can, he is our FIRST option now, and is doing great.

Actually, he will be our FIRST option next year too.

Agreed... Brooks is NOT as replaceable as everyone else is saying (I firmly believe that Lowry is much more replaceable). Everyone says we need Lowry to back up brooks but I think they have it backwards we need Brooks to start ahead of Lowry. I have noticed brooks passing from under the basket alot more now than he was before, also I don't think looking at assist numbers is appropriate because the ball gets passed around the perimeter alot, but Aaron breaks down the opposing defense to get someone a good shot, he has also been passing to Scola quite well near the top of the key out of a double team. He is someone that we have been lacking for a long time and I do not want to see him go. Also having a good pg who isn't injury prone is a great thing!!!

With that said if he commands too much money you have to let him go, overpriced contracts can ruin a franchise.

Brooks isn't a 2nd option. Hill isn't even a 2nd option. He's not even a 3rd option on the Spurs or any team.

    Sports Illustrated's Most Improved Player

    • MOST IMPROVED PLAYER: Kevin Durant, Oklahoma City Thunder. The hardest leap in the NBA is to rise from very good to great, and this year -- his third in the league -- Durant turned himself into an MVP candidate by driving his young teammates to win more games than anyone could have imagined. Aaron Brooks emerged as part of the Rockets' foundation, while George Hill's unexpected leadership with the Spurs (in Tony Parker's absence) helps him beat out a number of worthy candidates, including Josh Smith, Carl Landry, Marc Gasol, Bogut, Joakim Noah, Arron Afflalo, Lopez and Ersan Ilyasova.
    Most Improved Player Ballot
    1. Kevin Durant
    2. Aaron Brooks
    3. George Hill
    • SIXTH MAN AWARD. No one makes a bigger impact off the bench than Varejao, whose hustle plays provide an indispensable edge to the Cavs at both ends of the court. Manu Ginobili and Landry were candidates until both emerged as successful starters over the final weeks of the season.
    Sixth Man Award Ballot
    1. Anderson Varejao
    2. Jamal Crawford
    3. Jason Terry

LOL!!! Yao is a legitimate 2nd option for a championship caliber team when he is healthy. If AB will be our FIRST option next year, we will be the lottery team again.

Did you watch SAS's games? George Hill was playing great when T parker got injured. He shots 48% (FG%) and 40% (3P%), averaging 12.5 pts. He has very good D and can even defend some SG very well. Let him play the offense like we run this year, I truly believe Hill's STAT should be at least similar to AB's. Don't forget AB's FG% is only 43.3% this year.

How do you say that when Hill has been sharing the court with at least two superstars at time for most of the season in Duncan, Ginobilli or Parker (Hill started at SG at times this season with Parker) and star level talent like Jefferson and McDyess?

Brooks meanwhile has gone out with mainly just Scola and Ariza for most of the season, with the peppering in of Landry later in some games to help provide offense or draw attention. It is somewhat ludicrous how people underrate what Brooks brings to the team, when he leads the team with assists, 3 pointers and overall scoring.

I agree Hill has been a great this season for SA, but that doesn't mean if put in the same situation here, he'd blossom into what AB has done this season or better.

Nope, we have 3 number one options in Yao, Kmart and Brooks.

A solid number 3 option in Luis, and a number 4 or 5 option in Trevor and Shane.

    Very solid rotation....a championship contender.

lol at the morons claiming Yao should be the number one option only. Did any of you guys watch the 06' rockets season? It was a trainwreck even though Yao was putting up 30 pts and 10 rbs everynight.

    Very very well said ..
I've always said people dont really value what they have until they lose it ..
Its scaring seeing clutchcity fans turning into the NY mentality "What have U done for me lately"

A childish mentality nothing to be proud of like they do in the big apple .. A tough city to play in .. all BS !!

Ooops...sorry, the when he is healthy bit killed your argument.

He is a number 2 option when healthy...uh..but....he may never be that again.

I hope so, but would not count on it.

I would wait until the new CBA is decided and we all see how he performs with Yao before I would think about doing anything. AB is an undersized scoring guard like Nate Robinson and Ben Gordon, though with how some of the members of CF keep talking him up, you would think that he is the second coming of Christ himself. Granted, he IS probably quick enough to run across water though... :p Ironically, IF Yao ever gets healthy and comes back, I find myself preferring AB starting at point over Lowry for the simple reason that AB has range and Lowry doesn't. The last thing Yao needs, is someone else crowding his space down below.

Exactly, and we don't even know if Yao will come back, or how good he might be, as hard as he works you would think he has a good chance but his body is the question, can it hold up?

As for Brooks, he is improving on his passing, and his chemistry with Scola is great.....as he plays more often the chemistry with the rest of the guys will grow as well.

I would like to see him play with a SF that cuts to the basket though, neither Trevor nor Shane moves without the ball.....CBud moves very well and AB finds him.....as does Lowry...

I can not stand Battriza and their stand still mentality..
