Well the Rockets have made the playoffs every year since Battier has been here (Except this year), and they got to the 2nd round last year with him, not to also mention a couple 50+ win seasons. The grizzles have yet to make the playoffs with Gay, and this is the first year theyve had a winning record with him.

Is it fair to say Battier would have made grizzlies better, or vice versa?

Donte Greene is like Harold Miner, an excelent dunker, but a terrible player.

After watching the clip i knew there was no way this thread was 2 pages discussing it...

so getting back on topic...brockman did ok given he's technically a big man and not exactly an athletic talent...Greene's dunks were pretty poor. He hardly got off the floor and barely made most of them. He's all height/wingspan, his head was wayyy below the rim on the dunks. You gotta get up high for dunks too look good, otherwise it's like a kid dunking on a little tikes goal.

that's an insult to Miner. Miner was a way better dunker than Greene.

I'd say they should have really good shot blocking centers/PF's in the dunk contest waiting in the paint during the dunk contest. That would make it more amazing. It's either a facial or a massive block. Can't ever go wrong with that.

    But it's never happening :(

memphis made 3 trips to the playoff during Battier's service there. their franchise only 3 times appearances in playoff.

    1) I don't know what you found as an insult, but I didn't insult anyone or at least didn't try to.

    2) Yeah I worded it wrong, so what?

Anyways, on to the issue... You could go either way with it. You can give examples of players who have lived to their potential, anywhere in the NBA for any team, there's plenty of examples of players who would effective on some teams while being crappy on other teams.

You can't tell how good they would have developed here vs. there... There's different trainers, there's different management. Hell... even teammates.. teammates help teammates get better. Maybe Greene fit better in this offense, may not... I just feel that the Battier trade wasn't worth it... and the Greene trade was really a one year deal. I mean, at the time, I'll admit.. I was all for Ron Artest coming here.. but I just don't feel that Ron even made a difference in us getting to the 2nd round really (you can argue that though). So now that I look at it, I'd rather have kept Greene. It's really a matter of opinion though.

ANYway, back on topic. Pretty cool contest...def. better than the dunk contest

I had no idea Jon Brockman had those hops. At Washington, it seemed like they just posted him up all day long, and he only played with his back to the basket. Surprisingly, he didn't have that kind of elevation on fadeaways or hooks or anything...so I never realized it. I did really like him there though
