did you send a thank you note? ;)

Hope you get the job. I've been in your shoes and even if they don't call it doesn't mean it won't happen. Maybe something came up and he's not even thinking about that position/you right now, stuff like that happens. Good luck

Don't mean to gloat but I received and took the job that I was offered today. I've been searching for this job for 4+ months and did some odd work in between to make it by. Everybody hang in there and don't give up hope.

As I mentioned, I know my thank you note fast tracked this process. Good luck everyone!

a hand written note does go a long way. A recruiter called my gf not too long ago about a job...the recruiter was a guy from 2 years ago and he always kept her number because she wrote a note....sure it had a nudey picture attached, but i'm sure he would have remembered anyways.

Yep, sent a thank you note first thing I did when I got home.

I just interviewed a guy today and I'm pretty sure that he is not sending a thank you note since he did not ask me for my card or any contact information.

When I went on job interviews, I always followed up with a thank you e-mail.

    Question:

My interview last week was set up through a recruiter. I sent the recruiter an e-mail on Friday to see if she had heard back from the company and I haven't gotten a response (haven't spoken with the recruiter since immediately after my interview last Monday).

Should I not do anything and just hope for the best but assume the worst, or send another e-mail or phone call tomorrow?

I would send one more and then move on if you don't hear from her. Make sure to thank her again for "taking the time out of your busy schedule to assist me." You can say something like, "I realize your time is valuable, but if you have a moment, could you send me a quick note to let me know if the company has contacted you regarding my candidacy? My email is ..... Again, thank you for your time."

I'm afraid I may have undersold myself for a position I REALLLLLLLLLY wanted. I just sent a thank you note a la the one Dandorotik recommended. Keep your fingers crossed, Clutchfans, until such time when uncrossing your fingers is appropriate. You will be expected to maintain crossing the pointer and middle fingers until later notified. Godspeed.

There are plenty of jobs out there, but in my experience, there are 100 applicants or more for every one job and employers can be really picky, rude and lowball nowadays...headhunters, although great, are a dime a dozen and you're one of 20 people they call for a single job screening, and employers usually use two to three firms for one job...I found my job myself, online...it helped that I knew somebody there as well, so to me, that's always the best bet...

I was out of work for about 14 months, and the first 6 months, I didn't really do anything job search wise, as i was happy to have the break...I interviewed at numerous places in Dallas, Houston and finally Chattanooga, Tn...yes, Tennessee...I interviewed there on 3 different occassions and finally started in March..I'm still adjusting to life outside Texas...

There are still some former co-workers of mine that are still looking and that's scary...I almost didnt take the job here, just being away from family/friends, etc., however, getting some sort of paycheck/benefits proved to be the deciding factor...My advice, don't look for jobs everyday, you'll go crazy...

So, no real cool story bro, but a story nonetheless...

Happened to the last 3 clients of mine. It had nothing to do with their career documents, their interviews, their references- those were all great. It was just bad luck and circumstance, like your situation. I keep telling them, "keep your head up, there's more out there, you just gotta keep exploring more opportunities, etc." What else can you do, right? I will say that it's very, very difficult to be positive about Job Search 2010- as the other poster mentioned, it's an employer's market and they do have more of a selection of potential employees (although the job seeker still does have a bit of control over who they decide to work for, but it's much tougher nowadays). But I honestly believe that the only way it will work for anyone is to keep being positive, keep applying for positions, keep sending the thank-you letters, etc. Just like Larry Bird- he's was a 90% free throw shooter, yet he was in the gym shooting 100s of those suckers every day, even when he was tired and didn't feel like it. Same with Hakeem. You just have to keep doing the things that you know are the right things to do, pat yourself on the back for going about it the right way even if you didn't get the job, and eventually, hopefully soon, your hard work will be rewarded sufficiently.
