Stupak said it wasn't "one thing" that lead him to make his decision, "it was a number of things." But he suggested that his vote for health care reform, which drew fire from tea party groups, was a final victory in a career that has included opposition to the Iraq War and fighting to limit abortion rights in America.

"After 18 yrs, together we've accomplished what you sent me to Washington to do," he said. "Health care for all Americans."

i wonder about the squeamishness of the average liberal about sex, particularly acts which fall outside the "mainstream" (if such a thing even exists, sexually). the juvenile, schoolboy snigering, the suggestion that sex in all its raunchy, messy, hotnsweaty glory is somehow incompatible with notions of family and devotion. i can only assume that mc mark has experienced neither such devotion, nor such sweet sweat.

    batman is another prime offender.

puts me in mind of both Richard Thompson, and Monty Python:

    <object width="960" height="745"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ona-RhLfRfc&hl=en_US&fs=1&rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ona-RhLfRfc&hl=en_US&fs=1&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="960" height="745"></embed></object>

    Say no more.

I don't even know why respond to your intellectual dishonesty, but the average liberal is squeamish about sex as opposed to the average conservative.

com'on basso, join us on planet earth, and stop posting ridiculous statements.

Stupak is not a Demo hardliner, and we know had everyone been a Demo hardliner HCR would have passed last year (perhaps friendlier to abortion activists)...I'm not sure of the type who will replace him though...

And like he said, I'm sure it had nothing to do with the movement of Tea Partiers and their ilk focusing their aggression on him.

...and he helped ensure the abortion issue was profoundly addressed...A 2009 version likely would have omitted that...A pull to center due to those pesky non-hardliners...O well...

No, the 2009 version addressed the same issues Stupak was yammering on about. Nothing was added or changed.

    You're an idiot.

Liberals are for living and letting live. Your party is for opposing gay rights in all forms and running on anti-sex "family values," all while engaging in the behavior they say they deplore.

You don't get to support the party of the "moral majority" on one hand and call the opposition, which stands in all ways for sexual freedom, prudes. Or, rather, you can do that but it makes you look for all the world like a clueless hypocrite.

sure i can, since i don't support the republican party. but then, neither do i support the hypocritical jackasses who are running the country today, and running it into the ground as quickly as they can.

and per my post above, there's no conflict between family values, and hot and sweaty sex, whether straight, gay, or lesbian bondage.
