Could the Rockets get Amare in a Sign and Trade?

Over this past trade deadline according to Marq Stein we offered Shane Battier+Luis Scola+Cook+ Draft Picks for Amare.

And if I'm correct the only reason it did not go through was due to a physical.

The Rockets have made it known they will do anything to get Luis Scola back, but do we want him back to play for the Rockets or use in a package ?

From just a glance it would seem we could easily offer a package similar to the one we offered previously, maybe even better.

We now have Jordan Hill and the Knicks picks in which we could package along with Battier possibly. Which appears to be even a better deal.

It's far-fetched but doesn't seem out of the realm of possibilities.

We know Morey wants to add an all-star level player and he has been pushing for Amare for the past two years now.

Of course Amare would want to come here in the first place.

Amare is great and all but I prefer Bosh.

He has been a BEAST since the trade deadline stepping his game up, averaging something like 27pts with 9.9reb and that's been a big reason why the Suns are one of the hottest teams since the Feb deadline. I don't care what others say, I would love to see him here. He is playing like he was in 04 and 07, if not better.

Yea, but we obviously tried to trade Scola at the deadline and we could easily do it again once we resign him.

Although Scola has his weaknesses defensively, at least he plays hard on both ends.

Amare doesn't even care about D. He's more than happy to stand around watching on many possessions.

Amare is only playing well so he can cash in on lots of moula in the offseason. Watch when he gets his check, he is gonna coast ala Hedo.

Besides, I rather keep Scola than get Amare because Scola is a better defender.

Why even entertain this when we have Chuck Hayes? Why would we need Amare? Hell Chuck's superior defensive ability will be invaluable next to Yao next year. In fact maybe we should bench Scola and use him in Landy's old scoring sixth man role and let Chuck dominate defensivel. Let's lock up Hayes for a third of the cost!

comedic post of the year. chuck is great, but if you honestly believe we will contend with chuck as our starting pf you are sorely mistaken sir.

I personally believe he is option 2 after Bosh in Morey's eyes.

Not a fan of Amare at all.

His defense remains atrocious and he still can't score efficiently unless all these conditions are met:

    - Steve Nash is playing and playing excellent.
    - The team is running like hell and he is surrounded by excellent shooters.
    - He plays C rather than PF and has more of a speed advantage.

As a PF, on a team with Yao, with Brooks at PG... He would be disastrous. Not to mention his rebounding is poor relative to MAX or near-MAX big men in the league.

Bosh is just as bad defensively, but does EVERYTHING else better.

i disagreed with you on Amare, who i think can play along side Yao. Just watch how he is much better now with lopez at the center. Defense is another thing, but he should be ok.

However, i doubt we would get him, if phx is going to do a sign and trade he would be shipped to the east.

now, i know some would say we almost had him before the trading deadline. That's because suns knew teams like rockets will have trouble re-signing him. so for merely half year rental suns felt they can do it.

    Well put.

Bosh would be nice but I really wouldn't say it'd be too bad if we were stuck with Luis. Heck, I love Luis. The guy's personality is a paragon for all athletes. I don't think Bosh would be that much of an upgrade to be worth the sizable salary increase, anyway.

I was on the Amare bandwagon for a few seasons BUT after this season's deadline I have my concerns.

    1) The Suns trying to get the physicals waived before the deadline just brings up TONS of red flags.

    2) The fact he has exploded after knowing he wasn't going to be traded strikes me as a contract push. He knew that he wasn't getting a MAX deal so now he is trying to prove he is worth it, my question is where was this before the deadline?

I wouldn't be opposed and Morey has gone after him the last few seasons so it really wouldn't surprise me.

I thought Morey pulled out because he couldn't get a guarantee from Amare that he would stay in Houston.

If Amare really wanted to come to Houston, he would've negotiated an extension.

Amare wants the MAX money and nothing less. We can't force a player to sign with us through sign-and-trade. Phoenix has no say in where Amare can go or not. If Amare doesn't want to come here, then we basically have no chance.

    Could they? Probably.

Do they want to? I sure hope not.

This! Why even bother with getting another prima donna after the Rockets' disastrous experience with one.
