I think 90% of the board wanted rafer gone. He did take a team to finals, and SVG should have just let rafer play in the finals.

I think that when you consider what went on with Rafer this past season, and Lowry's contributions with the Rockets, it already looks like a lopsided deal for the Rockets.

Uh, Rafer isn't even playing on a team anymore.

So is it not obvious the Rockets are the victors ?

Had we kept Alston that means Brooks would of probably still be coming off the bench and not been a BEAST this year.

    Morey is the man.

I nearly wept with joy when I found out the Rockets had traded Rafer. Looking back one year later, not having been forced to watch any more Rafer 2/12 shooting brickfests, I am even happier.

I had forgotten that the Alston trade got us under the lux tax as well. Damn Morey is impressive!

Rafer's outside shooting was OK. It was his absurd inability to finish in the paint that was so aggravating. Lowry is much better at scoring inside compared to Alston and that is his primary plus over his predecessor.

I am glad to have Lowry over Rafer, but I will never talk trash about Rafer. I remember the last win of the 22 game win streak (I was at the game), Rafer just clowned that douche Vujachick. Vujachick got mad, and Rafer walked away, and pumped his fist. One of the best moments in Rockets history for me.

BTW I know I spelled Vujachick wrong.

I was happy with it. Rafer sucked. However, I was surprised at how good Lowry is.

your obviously not a true rockets fan because you dont know anything about that trade. do you really think the rockets would have brought in cook unless they had to?

You could trade Rafer away for a pair of ticket stubs to Jeeper Creepers 2 and still come out on top simply because you finally flushed down a giant piece of turd which just refused to go down the hole.

I was thrilled about the trade at the time, because we got a future building block for Rafer, age for youth and talent, and allowed Brooks to have opportunity to grow. I expected him to blossom, but not this much.

When Rafer was playing so well, I was hoping there would be an opportunity to trade him. He was a real help for Orlando to get to the Finals, and Memphis was stockpiled, so it worked out for all involved, although I think we came out ahead in the long haul.

    ... another great Morey deal.

the difference is rafer shot the ball a hell of a lot more than lowry does... percentages alone don't tell the whole story

I wanted rafer gone, and saw the brooks could do a bit more, but brooks surpassed my expections, I mean, I knew he was better than rafer, but not like he is playing now.

Orlando went to the finals with Rafer as their starting PG.

Memphis made room for Conley and Mayo at the PG position, and got a 1st round pick.

So no, the Rockets are not obviously "victors". It was a trade that benefited everyone. Because Morey doesn't rip people off. He helps others. And making friends with other front offices is always a good thing. See: Artest->Martin or Francis->Lowry. You work your way up.

I feel the same way about it as I did the day it happened.

    :)
